Students’ Perception of Using Kahoot as an Interactive Game for English Language Learning Evaluation

This research aims to determine students' perceptions of using Kahoot as an
interactive game in learning evaluation. The sample of this research was tenth
grade students at SMAN 18 Bone who had participated in learning evaluation
using Kahoot. This qualitative research used purposive sampling to obtain data
through interviews and questionnaires to students. The results showed that
students gave positive perceptions towards Kahoot. It was found that students
perceive Kahoot as an interesting online game-based learning evaluation platform
that adds to their knowledge, as well as increases motivation to continue learning
and also provides a fun and challenging learning evaluation atmosphere. In
addition, this research found obstacles experienced by students when using
Kahoot, such as poor internet connection so students are advised to have access to
a more stable network during the use of kahoot.
A. Conclusion
Based on the research findings and discussion presented in the
previous chapter, it is clear that students view Kahoot as an effective tool
for assessing their learning progress. Kahoot, as an online game-based
learning platform, is very much in tune with today's student lifestyle which
is heavily influenced by technology. Leveraging Kahoot for evaluation
purposes involves transforming learning evaluation into an engaging game
format, encouraging active student participation, improving classroom
dynamics, and reducing monotonous learning evaluation.
Kahoot got a positive reception from the students due to its cool in-
game features and ease of use. In addition, Kahoot plays an important role
in enhancing learning by expanding their knowledge and encouraging
motivation to be more active in learning ahead of the learning evaluation.
The use of Kahoot also contributed to the students' confidence boost and
made the class more engaging during the learning evaluation process.
Through immediate feedback, Kahoot helps improve students'
understanding of the learning material.
Another benefit of Kahoot is the high level of student engagement
in English learning evaluation and the fun atmosphere created when
playing the game. When students compete to win the game in English

learning evaluation, it fosters an active learning and evaluation
environment. However, Kahoot relies on a stable internet connection to
avoid interruptions during game play, making it a challenge for students
who have poor connectivity.
It can be concluded that this research shows that English learning
evaluation using kahoot is viewed positively by students. The use of
Kahoot as an online English learning evaluation platform is not only
effective but also provides a fun and interactive experience for students.
They feel more motivated and challenged to study harder for English
learning evaluation because of the game element presented by Kahoot.
This English learning evaluation with Kahoot also allows students to
receive immediate feedback, which helps them understand the material
better and correct their mistakes immediately. In addition, the use of
Kahoot in English learning evaluation makes students more active and
engaged during the learning process, which ultimately improves classroom
dynamics and encourages overall student participation. Thus, the
integration of Kahoot in English learning evaluation can be considered as
an innovation that successfully improves the quality and effectiveness of
the teaching and learning process.
B. Suggestions
The researcher would like to give several suggestions to students,
teachers and future researchers. For students, researcher recommend
Kahoot as an interesting and fun online learning tool where Kahoot offers
an interactive gaming experience that facilitates learning and increasing
knowledge while playing. This allows students to strengthen their
understanding and review course material effectively. Kahoot also
functions to increase student motivation and enthusiasm because of its
interesting and fun nature as a learning platform. In addition, Kahoot is an
evaluation game that requires a good internet connection for students to
fully engage. Therefore, it is recommended for students to have a stable
internet connection when taking part in learning evaluation with kahoot.
Kahoot is considered an engaging learning tool that aligns with
current learning models, especially considering the high engagement of
students in technology in this digital age. For teachers, Kahoot offers the
opportunity to simplify assessment by generating student grades through
quizzes conducted on the platform. In addition, Kahoot has the potential to
enhance the teaching process by encouraging active learning, thereby
increasing student engagement and participation in the classroom.
The researcher hopes that this research can be helpful for future
researchers who are interested in exploring student perceptions about the
use of Kahoot in learning evaluation. This research can be a basic resource
for similar research in this field. Recognizing the limitations that exist in
this research, the researcher encourages future researchers to explore this
topic more deeply, thereby expanding the findings and contributing to a
more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
