The Influence of Bone Buginese dialect on the English Intonation in Pronounciation Practice to the Second Semester of English Education Program Students of STAIN Watampone

This study aims to know the factors of influence the Bugis dialect on the English Intonation in Pronunciation Practice to the Second Semester of English Education Program Students of STAIN Watampone. In this study, the researcher uses qualitative method, which is defined as a research in which the data is presented in the form of written or oral words that is analyzed descriptively. This method is used to analyze the problem systematically. The design research through a observation, document and interview. This research analyzes about the factors of the influence Bone Bugis dialect to English pronunciation. Based on the analysis the data, the kinds of the mistake of students’ pronunciation influenced by dialect Bugis are some of students did not know the different pronounce D and Ed in past tense, Sometimes they pronounce a word appropriate with the writing, and there are some students make the same to pronounce the word “Bed” and “Bath”. Intonation of some dialect of Bugis can influence the speech of English in pronunciation practice. Meanwhile, factor that influence the students’ pronunciation are native language and identity and language ego. The teacher should give aware and always motivate to the student that learning pronunciation is important in English language.
A.Conclusion
Based on the result of data analysis in the previous chapter, the researcher concludes that:
1.Kind of the mistake of students’ pronounciation influenced by dialect Bugis are some of students did not know the different pronounce D and Ed in past tense, Sometimes they pronounce a word appropriate with the writing, and there are some students make the same to pronounce the word “Bed” and “Bath”.
2.Intonation of some dialect of Bugis can influence the speech of English in pronounciation practice.
3.Factor that influence the students’ pronounciation are native language and identity and language ego.
B.Suggestion
The researcher gives suggest to all readers and especially for teachers or lecturers and students :
1. For Teacher
a)The teacher should give aware to the student that learning pronunciation is important in English language.
b)The teacher should always motivate the students to learn English.
2.For Student
a)The students have to improve their achievements, skills in English, especially, pronunciation skill to make their speaking to be understood easily.
b)The students should be more seriously studying English especially speaking to train their pronounciation.
c)They should practice speech English by themselves without teacher.
