This research aims at finding out improving students’ speaking ability in using daily expression through cartoon movie on the ninth semester of English Study Program of STAIN WatamponernThe method applies in speaking this research is quantitative method. The design of the research is pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. This research uses two variables: (1) independent variable is using daily expression through cartoon movie, (2) dependent variable is students’ English speaking ability.rnThe population of this research are all of the students at the ninth semester of English Study program of STAIN Watampone in academic year 2016-2017 that consists of four classes. The sum of population are 78 students which consists 4 classes. The researcher applies cluster sampling. The researcher takes only one class as the sample of this research. Class TBI 2 is taken as the sample in this research which consists of 10 students.rnThis research employs one instrument based on the problem statement investigated, it is speaking test. Speaking test consists of pre-test is given to the students to know the students’ speaking ability before using cartoon movie and post-test is given to the students to know the students’ speaking ability after using cartoon movie.rnAfter several meetings, this research finds out the use of cartoon movie is significantly effective to improve the students’ speaking ability. The result of this research shows: (1) the mean score obtains by the students through pre-test is 65.1 and post-test was 79.3 (2) the t-test value was higher than the t-table (5.259 > 2.262). It means that there is a significant difference between the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test. Therefore, null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted.rnA. ConclusionrnBased on the findings and discussion above, the researcher comes to conclusion. They are as follows:rnThe use of daily expression improves students’ speaking ability through cartoon movie at Ninth Semester of English Study Program of STAIN Watampone Academic Year 2016/2017. It is proved by the result of students’ skill in pre-test and post-test. The students’ skill is improved based on their score 79.3 in post test better than pre test which has different significant of their score 65.1.rnB. SuggestionsrnThe researcher gives suggestion to all readers and especially for teachers, lecturers or instructors and students that:rnFor the improvement of the teaching English, the researcher suggests to the English lecturer especially speaking should give the good method in teaching English based on te students’ motivation. Using Cartoon Movie can improve students’ speaking .
