Using the Meme Photos as an Instructinal Media in English Narrative Writing of the Eighth Semester Students in IAIN Bone

This thesis presents research about Using the meme photos as an
instructional media in English narrative writing of the eighth semester students in
IAIN Bone. The research was conducted at the eighth semester of English study
program of IAIN Bone.
This research is qualitative method. It is the way of reflecting on teaching
which is done systematically by collecting data on every meeting practice in a class
and analyzing in order to come to some decisions about what the future practice
should be. There is types of data in the research, the qualitative data which collected
by, test and interview.
The result of this research showed that Using meme photos as the media
can help the students’ narrative writing constraints. To helped the students’ narrative
writing constraints through meme photos based on the mean score of the data from
the test. The successful of this research could be clearly seen from the score of the
test that passed minimal mastery level criterion (KKM). Strength of the
implementation of meme photos as the media is that it can raise students’
participation in writing class and it can help the students’ narrative writing
constraints. However, the implementation of some material needs some preparations,
especially in choosing interesting topics or theme which are not only suitable to the
theme but also suitable to the curriculum and students’ need.
A. Conclusion
Having implemented meme photos as an instructional media to help the
students’ narrative writing constraints, the researcher would like to present two
conclusions as follows:
1. Using meme photos as the media can help the students’ narrative writing
constraints. To helped the students’ narrative writing constraints through
meme photos based on the score of the data from the test. The successful of
this research could be clearly seen from the result of the test, where only
three students not passed of the minimal mastery level criterion (KKM). It
could be seen that students was good in English narrative writing. It means
that some students of the eighth semester of TBI still have a good
participation in writing narrative class.
2. Based on the description of the data and the statement from the other
researchers and also experience taught narrative writing through meme
photos, the students’ should solve their problem, be active, feel comfortable,
confident and easy to write a narrative writing best on the theme.
B. Suggestions
Having implemented Having implemented meme photos as the media to help
the students’ narrative writing constraints, the researcher would like to present some
suggestions as follows:
1. It is strongly suggested that using meme photos in learning English narrative
writing be continually implemented in IAIN Bone in order to avoid
monotonous material.
2. In using meme photos, lecturer should make extra preparation starting from
the selection of materials which should be suitable to the students and
curriculum to be used in the class.
