This thesis examines research on Analyzing The Error of English Translation
in Newspaper. It can not be denied, as a human being, everyone will not be free from
the mistakes. Includes translating words or phrases, especially in newspapers. Writers
of newspapers are not always people who are fluent in English. It is natural that the
writer makes errors in the newspaper. This research takes Radar Bone Newspaper as
the object of the research. This research uses qualitative approach, by using
observation and interview method. The researcher choses the Director of Radar Bone
as the person who was asked for information. Data and source of data comes from
two sources. The first is from the newspapers that containing errors in English
translation. The second comes from interviews with The Director of Radar Bone
directly.
The researcher told the Director of Radar Bone about the errors of English
translation that the researcher found in a week. The researcher also explained about
the types and the causes of the error English translation. In addition, the author also
conducts interviews about the overview of Radar Bone newspaper.
The results of this study there are 10 errors Englis translation that occurred in
Radar Bone newspaper within a week. The Researcher also found that there are
several causes of the error occurred, including mistyping, think English is really easy,
familiar with those English words, not familiar with those English words, English is
not their educational background, there is no English training in writing English.
A. Conclusions
Based on the result of data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter,
the researcher concludes that in this research all of the types of errors of English
translation that happen in Radar Bone newspaper is Misscellaneous error. There are
10 errors English translation in Radar Bone newspaper in a week. In this research,
the causes of errors are mistyping, think English is really easy, familiar with those
English words, so they do not write those English words carefully and English is not
their educational background.
There is nothing kind of sytactic error and semantic error in this research. All
about the misscellaneous errors. About the causes, there is nothing intralingual
transfer, context of learning and communicative strategy causes. All about
interlingual transfer as the causes of the errors in this research.
B. Sugestions
After researching the errors of English translation in newspaper, the
researcher suggests :
1. To Director of Radar Bone to make a training for the reporters and the
writers of Radar Bone in writing English, so they will not make a mistake
anymore.
2. To the all readers and the writers of Radar Bone to learn English more.
3. To the all readers of this research to take care if writing something in
English.
