Encouraging Students’ Achievement Listening Skill By Using Video Media At The Eleventh Grade Students Of MA As-sa’Adah Sailong

The researcher discusses about developing the students’ listening skill through
video media in the eleventh grade of MA As-sa’adah Sailong..The objective of the
research is aimed to students' listening comprehension through video media in the
eleventh grade of MA As-sa’adah Sailong.The dependent variable of this research is
the students’ listening skill and the independent variable of this research used video
media in listening skill.
In this research, the researcher used pre test and post test design. The pre test
was given before treatment and post test was given after treatment to find out the
students achivement in listening skill. The researcher used cluster sampling, which is
the eleventh class consisting of 17 students.
The result of this research shows that, there was significant development of
the students’ achivement in listening by using video media. It also can be proved by
the value (p-value) is smaller than α (0,000 < 0,05). It indicates that H 1 is accepted
and Ho is rejected. It is assumed that there is significant diffrence between the
students’ listening skill before and after giving the treatment. It is proven by the mean
score of the students of post test is high than pre test. It means, that the use of video
media can develop the students listening skill.
A. Conclusions
Based on the result of the analysis in the previous chapter, the researcher would
like to make conclusions. The researcher concluded that after using video media in
teaching listening skill at the eleventh grade students MA As-sa’adah Sailong. The
students’ skill was improved in learning listening through using video media at the
eleventh grade of MA As-sa’adah. It was proved by the result of students’
achievement in pre-test and post-test. The students’ skill was proved based on their
score in post test better than pre test which had different significant of their score. It
could be seen clearly the score of pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the pre-
test is 67,0588 and the post-test is 81,1765.
The result of this research shows that, there was significant development of
the students’ achivement in listening by using video media. It also can be proved by

B.Suggestions
In view of the fact that descriptive text has been proved to encourage the
students’ listening, the reseacher would like to give suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher is expected to know that video media is one alternative
teaching technique in listening skill of the students and it is not only in
teachung listening but also for other skill, such as learning to listen to
stories and practicing speaking.
2. The teacher is expected to increase students’ and motivation in following
the learning process of listening to the story.
3. English teacher should improve their knowledge and their ability in
teaching. They should use an interesting strategy to attract students’
attention and make the students learn comfortable and relaxed.
4. It is recommended for English teacher to apply video media as a way to
improve the students’ listening.
