Using The Electronic English Dictionary To Enhance The Students’ Pronunciation at The Eleventh Grade Students of Sman 02 Bone

This thesis presents research about enhance students’ pronunciation by using
Electronic English Dictionary at the eleventh grade of SMAN 2 Bone. The problem
statements of this thesis is Does Electronic English Dictionary enhace the students’
pronunciation at the eleventh grade of SMAN 2 Bone.
This research uses quantitative method with pre-experimental design. The
researcher applies cluster sampling by choosing the eleventh grade of SMAN 2 Bone
in academic year 2018/2019. It consists of six classes in class MIA with the total 210
students and takes class Elevanth grade and number of students in SMAN 02 Bone
class MIA6 consist 34 Students’ in the eleventh grade. This research employs a test
based on the problem statement investigated, it is pronunciation test. Pronunciation
test consists of pre-test was given to the students to know the students’ pronunciation
skill before applying Electronic English Dictionary and post-test was given to the
students to know the students’ pronunciation skill after applying Electronic English
Dictionary, while the data obtains through tests are analyzed with mean score and the
formula of t-test.
After several meetings, this research finds out the use of Electronic English
Dictionary sigificantly effective in enhancing the students’ pronunciation skill. The
result of this research shows : The mean score obtained by the students through pre-
test is 63,97 and post-test is 71,55. It means that there is a significant difference
between the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test. Therefore, null hypothesis
(H 0 ) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (H 1 ) is accepted.
A. Conclusion
Base on the data of the research on the previous chapter, the researcher
concludes that result of this research studying pronunciation through electronic
english dictionary is one media can enhance the student’s pronunciation. It can be
seen of the the eleventh grade student’s of SMA 02 Bone. After several meetings, this
research finds out the use of Electronic English Dictionary sigificantly effective in
enhancing the students pronunciation skill. The result of this research shows : The
mean score obtained by the students through pre-test is 63,97 and post-test is 71,55.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion given before, some suggestions can be submitted as
follows:
1. Learning language generally and English specifically, there should have
some approaches that the teacher can apply in classroom teaching.
Especially for pronunciation, most of the students can pay attention how to
pronunciation a good well. So, the teacher should understand the students
need.
2. The teacher should be creative moreover, the education system needs them
to enhance the pronunciation specially using media electronic. Now days,
the internet is widely used by lots of people. There are many website that
can be accessed to get new teaching materials. The teacher should be pay
attention the students’ media will be used.
