Analysis Of English For Specific Purposes Teaching In Vocational High School 7 Bone

This research is conducted to analyze the teacher developed and applied the
ESP material based on the syllabus in vocational high school.
The subject of this research is the teacher and the students in vocational
high school 7 Bone. That consults of 2 teachers and 15 students in 2 classes. In this
research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method.
After analyzing the teaching ESP material in vocational high school 7, the
teachers developed the ESP material based on syllabus because the teachers taught
English material appropriate with teaching method, material had been chosen, and
teaching stepped in lesson plan when the researcher was observing in the class. The
teachers also used text book was complete appropriate with the students’ field and
necessity. The teachers applied the teaching material of ESP course to learners that
based on the students’ field because the teachers gave example of conversation was
appropriate with students’ field when teaching process. The observation described
how the teachers taught English Material based on syllabus of curriculum 2013 and
the interview was used to know how the teachers developed English material based
on syllabus of curriculum 2013.
A. Conclusion
1. Based on the result of data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter,
the researcher states that the teachers developed the ESP material based on
syllabus because the teachers taught English material appropriate with
teaching method, material had been chosen, and teaching steps in lesson
plan when the researcher was observing in the class. The teachers also used
text book was complete appropriate with the students’ field and necessity.
2. The researcher also stated that the teachers applied the teaching material of
ESP course to learners that based on the students’ field because the teachers
gave example of conversation was appropriate with students’ field when
teaching process. The teachers also made interesting material and they used
electronic media in learning to facilitate describing English material when
teaching process.
B. Suggestion
In English teaching, there were two kinds that were English for general
purpose (EGP) and English for specific purpose (ESP). In ESP teaching process, it
program focused on specific fields like tourism, engineering, business and other
field.
1. For the English Teacher
ESP teachers should prepare lesson plan that contains specific
material (according to the teaching field).
2. For the Next Researcher
Here, the researcher suggested to the next researcher could analyze
the improving teaching ESP material at university. The other researcher could
analyze by using the different manner. And also the next researchers were
expected to extend this research. So, the reader had better and deeper
understanding related to the study.
