Engaging the students extensive reading through English Novel as an Instructional Media at the Fourth Semester of IAIN Bone

This research aimed to engaging the student in extensive reading through
English novel as an instructional media. The focus of this research was engaged the
student in reading ability.
This research employed a descriptive qualitative research method. The data
was collected through in-depth observation, reading text and interview. The subject of
this research of student at TBI one semester fourth IAIN Bone. The data analysis was
employed based on procedure of data analysis suggested by Miles and Huberman that
consisted of step data reduction, display and verification.
The result of this research showed that English novel has been fully able to
engage the student in extensive reading through English novel. three (3) of five (5)
students said that English novel can make them interest to read and make them
motivated to read in activities if interest story they will read and read again. The
student said get many new vocabularies, add knowledge, improve their skill and
make them motivated to read English novel.
A. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concludes that the result of this research shows English novel has been
fully able to engage the student extensive reading through English novel. three (3) of
five (5) students said that English novel was intersting for them to read and make
motivated them to read in activites if interest story the will read and read again. The
student said get many new vocabularies, add our knowledge, improve our skill and
make the motivation to read english novel.
B. Suggestions
Based on the existing fact that english novel has been able to be use as an
instructional meida to engegd the student extensive reading through english novel
herefore, the reseacher would like to give suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher could use english novel as references material in teaching
reading.The teacher could take material in teaching, especially in teaching
English novel. To engaged the student extensive reading through english
novel, english novel has been fully used as a medium of learning because it
has a sufficient level of difficulty for students. In the other hand we have to
know that the teacher should be creative moreove if they want to use an
english novel as an instructional media in teaching reading so the students
will not get bored and interest to read and read agin.
2. The students of the fourth semester of English Study Program of IAIN
BONE must have the diversity of learning media to support their success in
teaching reading.
3. For the other researcher, It is suggested that other researcher may use the
research results as information or a reference to conduct the research with
the similar topic in the same design to engaged the student extensive
reading through english nove as an instructional media.
