The Effectiveness of Using Photograph to Develop Writing Ability of the Tenth Grade Students of Madrasah Aliyah Al-nMubarak Tacipi Ulaweng District of Bone Regency.

The aim of this research is to know the students’ to develop writing ability
through photograph at the tenth grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Mubarak
Ulaweng. The problem statements of this thesis are: (1) To what extent does using
photograph develop the students’ ability in writing paragraph at the tenth grade
students of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Mubarak Tacipi, Ulaweng District, of Bone
Regency? (2) To what extent does conventional writing develop the students’ ability
in writing paragraph at the tenth grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Mubarak
Tacipi, Ulaweng District, of Bone Regency? (3) Is there any significant difference
between the students’ ability in writing using photograph and conventional writing?
This research took place at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Mubarak Tacipi, Ulaweng
District, of Bone Regency. The population of the study was the first year students in
academic year 2011/2012. It consisted of 46 students. It was divided into two groups,
namely experimental group and control group. There were 23 students taught using
photograph and there were 23 students without using photograph.
The finding of this research is the result of test shown that applying
photograph technique can develop the students writing comprehension. It provided by
the t-test value on post test. T test value was 31.76 > 2.0154 (t-table) at 0.05 levels of
significant.
A. Conclusion
Based on the research findings and conclusion in the chapter iv, the study
has come out with the following conclusion:
1. The students’ achievement taught using photographs technique where the
mean score of experimental group on pre-test was 77.43 while the mean score
on post-test was 82.13 which is categorized as good. It increased 4.7 points.
2. The students’ achievement taught conventional writing technique where the
mean score of control group on pre-test was 55.73 while the mean score on
post-test was 59.6 which is categorized as fair. I increased 3.87 poits.
3. The finding of this research through data tabulation shows that the mean score
on post-test of experimental group is higher that the mean score on post-test
of the control group (82.13 >59.6). The result of the t-observation = 31.76 >
2.0154 (t-table) at the 0.05 levels of significant and 44 degrees of freedom. It
means that H 0 is rejected and H 1 is acceptable. It means that there is significant
difference between the students is taught using photograph technique and
taught conventional writing technique in developing the students’
achievement.
B. Suggestion
To develop the students’ achievement in studying English, the writer
offers some suggestions to be considered in developing the students’ ability in
writing by using photograph in case of spelling and meaning.
1. The Teacher
a. The teacher is expected to know the suitable method of teaching. It is
important because media may influence the result of students`
Achievement on learning.
b. The teacher who plays a great role in teaching learning process motivates
the students in order to help the students understand the material easily.
c. The teacher can evaluate students, how far they understand the material in
each meeting.
2. The Students
The students are more active during the teaching learning process, so it can
make the students interested and motivated in learning English. Moreover,
they will get a better result.
3. The Writers
This thesis writing will be one of the experiences in writing English while she
has been studying in the English Department of STAIN Watampone.
4. The Reader
The writer believed that this thesis is far from being perfect. So the writers
will accept good suggestions and constructive criticism to make this thesis
perfect. The writer also hopes that the thesis will be useful and contribute
some valuable thing to the writers and all readers in general.
