The Comparative between Students’ Achievement in Translation Class with Grammar and Translation Method and without Grammar and Translation Method, at The Eight Semester of English Study Program of STAIN Watampone

Translation activity is mostly done by people as an important skill, especially for students in learning translation process. there are some ways that can make easy in translation activity. One of them is by using Grammar and Translation Method in learning process. this method is good to be applicated in translation classby the teacher or lecturer. but it is mostly difficult to be learn because there are many rules that have to be followed, so that, teachers or lecturers who want to use this method have to give more explanations and examples to students to make them to understood.rnBased on this research, researcher find the significant comparison between the Translation class by using Grammar and Translation Method. It is found that students’ achievement in the Translation class without Grammar and Translation Method is better than the Translation class by using Grammar and Translation Method. It can be caused of some factors that affects students’ achievement in learning process. The mostly is caused of the lecturer include the ability to build relationship with students, the ability to generate the interest in learning, the ability to provide an explanation, the ability to name the issues that are taught, the ability to direct the attention to a lesson is in progress, the ability to respond to students’ reactions.rnThis method is very good to applicated by the lecturer, but to make this method to be effective, the lecturers have to give more explanations about the grammar rules, examples, do the technique of Grammar and Translation Method step by step and give translation practice.rnA.ConclusionrnAfter analysing the dasa based on the students’ final score in Translation 1 and Translation 2 class, there is a significant comparison between students’ achievement in Translation class with Grammar and Translation Method and Translation class without Grammar and Translation Method. Based on the data collected, it can be seen that students’ achievement do not improve from Translation 1 class without Grammar and Translation Method into Translation 2 class with Grammar and Translation Method . there are only six students who got similar achievement, and the other students got reduction achievement, while no one student got achievement improvement. Students who got reduction in their achievement is because of they could not adjust with this method, because it seems more difficult and there are so many grammar rules that need to be followed.rnB.SuggestionrnBased on the result of this research, researcher suggests to the readers, especially for students to be more serious and study hard in learning process by using Grammar and Translation Method, especially in Translation class, because actually this method is very good to used, because this method combine between translation activity and grammatical element.rnFor the lecturers, it is a very good method to applicated in teaching translation process, but lecturers have to give the grammar rules one by one and step by step and comes with example based on students’ knowledge.rnFor the next researchers, for qualitative research can describe about students’ difficulty in using Grammar and Translation Method with Error analysis. For quantitative research can give additional point in scope of the research, because students’ achievement in Translation class can be affected by some factors.rnrn
