Increasing Listening Skills By Using Fairy Tale Audio Method at SMP Neg 2 Dua Boccoe

This research aims at finding out students listening skills by using fairy tale audio method at SMP Neg 2 Dua Boccoe. The method applied in writing this research was quantitative method. The design of the research was pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. The population of this research were all students of eighth grade at SMPN 2 Dua Boccoe academic year 2016/2017. The sum of population were 51 students which consisted of 2 classes. The writer applied purposive sampling. The writer took only one class as the sample of this research. Class two was taken as the sample in this research which consisted of 20 students.rnThis research employed one instrument based on the problem statements investigated, it was listening test. listening test consisted of pre-test was given to the students to know the students’ listening skills before applying fairy tale and post-test was given to the students to know the students’ listening skills after applying fairy tale.rnAfter several meetings, this research found out the use of fairy tale significantly effective to increase the students’ listening skills. The result of this research shows: (1) the mean score obtained by the students through pre-test was 10.15 and post-test was 13.45 (2) the t-test value was higher than the t-table (10.26 > 2.093). It means that there was a significant difference between the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test. Therefore, null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted.rn ConclusionrnBased on the findings and discussion above, the researcher comes to conclusion. They are as follows:rn1.Students’ skills is increased in learning listening through Fairy Tale Audio Method at SMPN2 Dua Boccoe Academic Year 2016/2017. It is proved by the result of students’ skills in pre-test and post-test. The students’ ability is increased based on their score 13.45 in post test better than pre test which has different significant of their score 10.15. It means that the value has positively improved. rnB. SuggestionsrnThe researcher gives suggestion to all readers and especially for teachers, lecturers or instructors and students that:rn For the improvement of the teaching English, the researcher suggests to the English teacher especially listening should give the good method in teaching English based on te students’ motivation.
