Applying Student Talking Time Method in Communicative Activity to Improve the Students’ Speaking Skill at Pesantren Putri Al-Manawwar Panyili

This thesis presents research about Applying Student Talking Time Method inrnCommunicative Activity to Improve the Students’ speaking skill at Pesantren PutrirnAl-Manawwarah Panyili. the students always feel difficult to speak English, studentsrncannot produce a good sentence, they do not know how to speak Englishrnsystematically and clearly. Therefore, the listeners cannot understand what thernspeaker says, it causes the communication cannot run well. The problem statementsrnof this thesis are: 1) to know wether Student Talking Time improve the students’rnspeaking skill of pesantren putri Al-Manawwarah. 2) To know the use of StudentrnTalking Time interested in teaching speaking of the second grade student of SMArnPesantren Putri Al-Manawwarah Panyili. This research used quantitative method. Thernsample consisted of 15 students. The researcher gave pretest, treatments, and posttest,rnwhile the data obtained through test were analyzed with mean score and the formularnof t-test. The result of the study shown that there was a significant improvement ofrnthe students’ skill after giving the treatment. It is provided in the table in chapter IV.rnThe table shows that the t-test obtained by the students (41.36) is greater than t-tablern(2.245). It means that H0 is rejected and H1 is acceptable. The data of students’rnmotivation which were taken by using questionnaire shows that 14 students (83.33%)rnchoose very high category and only one student (6.66%) chose high category. Itrnmeans that the students have high motivation in this technique. From the data couldrnbe conclude that teaching speaking by applying Student Talking Time method inrncommunicative activity is effective to improve students speaking skill and improvernstudents’ motivation in studying speaking.rnA. ConclusionrnBased on the result of the research on the previous chapter, the researcher comes to conclusion. They are as follows:rn1. Student Talking Time in communicative activity give positive effect on students’ speaking skill. It can be seen that the students’ prior knowledge of speaking is still low, it is provided in the data that most of the students mean score in pre-test increase after applying Student Talking Time. The students’ mean score in post-test (84.6) is higher than pre-test (44.6).rn2. The students’ motivation in studying speaking by Student Talking Time is high. The students are highly motivated in studying speaking by STT 14 students get very high category (83.33%) and 1 student get high category (6.66%).rnB. SuggestionsrnThe researcher gives suggestions to all readers, as follows:rn1. For the improvement of the teaching English, the researcher suggests to the English teacher should apply the good method to teach English speaking based on te students’ motivation. Applying Student Talking Time can help the students’ communicative activity in speaking.rn2. It is recommended to the next researcher who want to continue this thesis that they must carry out about the process of the treatment because the successful of a thesis depends on wey the reseacher’ treatment.rnThere are many methods which can be used to increase students’ speaking skill and make the learning process more fun. STT is one of the activities which can be used or teachers can use another activity which is appropriate with the subject which will be learned.
