ENHANCHING THE STUDENTS' VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT THROUGHT WATCHING ENGLISH SHORT MOVIE AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 4 WATAMPONE

This research is aimed at finding out the significance Watching EnglishrnShort Movie in enhancing students’ vocabulary achievement at the eleventhrngrade students’of SMAN 4 Watampone.rnThe population of this research is the eleventh grade of SMAN 4rnWatampone which has 30 students. The writer applied cluster sampling.rnThis research employs two different instruments based on the problemrnstatements investigated, they are vocabulary test and questionnaire. Vocabularyrntest consists of pre-test is given to the students to know the students’ vocabularyrnachievement before watching English short movie and post-test is given to thernstudents to know the students’ vocabulary achievement after watching Englishrnshort movie. And questionnaire is given to find out the students’ interest inrnlearning vocabulary by watching English short movie.rnAfter several meetings, this research finds out the use of watchingrnEnglish short movie sigificantly effective to enhance the students’ vocabularyrnachievement. The result of this research shows : (1) the mean score obtained byrnthe students through pre-test is 53,76 and post-test is 70,23, (2) the t-test value isrnhigher than the t-table (7,18 > 2,045). It means that there is a significantrndifference between the result of the students’ pre-test and post-test. Therefore, nullrnhypothesis (H0) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted.rnA. ConclusionsrnBased on the findings and discussion above, the researcher comes to conclusion. They are as follows :rn1. Students’ vocabulary achievement before applying Watching English short movie is still low, it is proved by the data that the most of students got poor classification with mean score of students’ pre-test is 53,76. Students’ vocabulary achievement after applying Watching English short movie is significantly improved their vocabulary, it is showed by the data that most of them got very good score with mean score of students’ post-test is 70,23.rn2. By using Watching English short movie, the students become interested in learning vocabulary. Learning vocabulary through Watching English short movie is an interesting way to improve the students’ vocabulary achievement.rnB. SuggestionsrnIn view of fact that the application of Watching English short movie in teaching vocabulary as the teaching method, has been proved to be more effective in improving the students’ vocabulary achievement and motivate in learning English vocabulary, the researcher would like to give suggestions as follows :rn1. For teacher :rna. The teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for teaching vocabulary such as applying Watching English short movie.rnb. The teacher should give the material well and should give their good performance in the classroom. Besides, the teacher should pay attention to the students’ activity while teaching learning process.rn2. For student :rna. The students of the eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Watampone have to enhance their vocabulary as an important thing in learning a language.rnb. The students of the eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Watampone ough to interested their self and manage their time.
