of bilingualism on the ability to read narrative texts of class XI Man 1 Bone
students can be measured from four points namely, pronunciation, accent, fluency,
and understanding. among the four points above only accents have little effect on
students' reading ability. because it is very clearly heard when students want to
stop reading, while pronunciation, fluency and comprehension do not affect
students' reading abilities bilingualme.
B. Suggestion
Based on research conducted, researchers want to provide advice to
English teachers and to students:
1. English teachers
Based on this research, it can be suggested that teachers should pay close
attention to students' reading skills in terms of pronunciation, fluency,
understanding and especially bilingual student accents. The results of the study
will evaluate themselves whether they are successful or not in teaching English. It
is hoped that teachers must improve methods in teaching reading so students are
motivated to improve their reading skills.
2. English learners
It is better to know this research, especially bilingual students. which
focuses on measuring their reading skills correctly according to pronunciation,
accent, fluency and comprehension points. The results of the study will show
bilingual students to pay more attention to how to read it, by reading more English
text, increasing vocabulary knowing, and reducing accent when reading English
text, so that they will realize the mistakes they made and the source of the error.
Students are expected to develop their reading skills to eliminate or at least reduce
the influence of bilingualism in the ability to read English texts.
3. For Further Researchers
It is hoped that the results of the study can examine the negative influence
of students' ability to read narrative texts.
Researchers believe there are still many phenomena that can be expressed in this
study. Researchers hope the results of this study can inspire other researchers to
conduct research related to the influence of bilingualism on students' reading
abilities to enrich existing research
