The Use of Quizizz as Formative Assessment Media to Increase Students’ Interest in English Language Learning.

The aim of this study is to know the use of Quizizz as formative
assessment media to increase students’ interest in English language learning. This
study takes a quantitative approach, employing observation and survey. The
study's participants were class XI A.I. According to the study's findings, based on
the t-value, it is known that the calculated t-value is 21.213 and the t-table value
for 36 respondents is 1.689, so 52.42 49.17. The results of the analysis test show
that the significance value is below 0.05, which means there is a significant
difference between students’ learning interest levels before and after the treatment
is given. After implementing the treatment of using Quizizz, showed a significant
change in students’ learning interest. Many students are starting to show
enthusiasm during learning. They seemed more focused and active when
participating in quizzes delivered through the Quizizz application. The interactive
features offered by Quizizz, such as attractive visuals, a scoring and rangking
system, and limited time to complete the questions, made the students feel
challenged and more enthusiasm about answering.
A. Conclusion
Based on the research findings, it was concluded that the use of Quizizz as
a formative assessment medium significantly increased students’ interest in
learning English. This improvement was observed in five indicators of learning
interest, namely enjoyment in participating in lessons, concentration on the
material, willingness to learn, intrinsic motivation to be active, and concrete
efforts to achieve learning goals.
Before the implementation of Quizizz, some students tended to be passive,
less focused, and showed low motivation during evaluation activities. After the
learning process was integrated with Quizizz, students became more enthusiastic,
focused, and actively involved in every stage of the lesson. They were motivated
not only to achieve high scores but also to understand the material more deeply.
The interactive features, attractive visuals, ranking system, and immediate
feedback in Quizizz created a fun and challenging learning atmosphere. This
encouraged consistent student engagement, both in class and outside of lesson
hours. Therefore, Quizizz was not only an evaluation tool but also an effective
medium to foster sustainable learning interest.
B. Suggestion
The suggestions that the researcher wished to convey in this study were:
1. Provide opportunities for teachers to develop and utilize the facilities
available in the school environment, so that teachers can offer interesting
innovations for students outside the classroom and students can play a
more active role and participate in the learning process.
2. So that teachers can use Quizizz learning media and various other
learning media, making the learning process enjoyable and not
monotonous, thereby improving students' interest in learning.
3. Students are expected to always be active and motivated in the learning
process and not just wait for explanations from the teacher. In addition,
students are expected to cultivate a strong interest from within
themselves to review previous material and independently learn the next
material in order to achieve good and desired learning outcomes.
4. Future researchers are advised to explore other variables or use different
research designs to gain deeper insights into the effectiveness of digital
learning media such as Quizizz. It is also recommended to conduct
similar studies with larger sample sizes or in different educational
settings to enhance the generalizability of the findings.
