Analyzing The Types of Sentence Used By The Students In Writing Speech Script At The Eleventh Grade of SMAN 13 Bone

This research was conducted to analyze the types of sentence in writing
speech script made by the students at the eleventh grade of SMAN 13 Bone and
described the causes of errors.The subject of this research was students of English
study program consisted five students in a class. In this research, the researcher used
descriptive qualitative method.After analyzing the students’ types of sentences made
by the students in writing speech script, there were four types of sentence; they were
simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence and compound complex
sentence. In the types of sentence included the criteria of the students’ understanding
are apply, interpret and explain. There were five students have got test and have been
interviewed, there were two of five students have understood and can explain the
types of sentence and there were three students have not understood and cannot
explain well the types of sentence. Most of them just mention types of sentence
because the students should explain, interpret and apply the types of sentence. The
result of this research showed that most of students have not understood are
compound and complex sentence.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter,
the researcher concluded that students of the eleventh grade of SMAN 13 Bone at
exact program were made speech script by using types of sentences. types of
sentences were simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and
compound complex sentence. In the types of sentence included the criteria of the
students’ understanding are apply, interpret and explain. There are five students
have got test and have been interviewed, there were two of five students have
understood and can explain the types of sentence and there were three students
have not understood and cannot explain well the types of sentence. Most of them
just mention types of sentence because actually, the students should explain,
interpret and apply the types of sentence. The types of sentence that most of
students have not understood are compound and complex sentence. Therefore, it
can be concluded that most of students have not understood about the types of
sentence and the students still need more knowledge about the types of sentence.
B. Suggestion
Sentence is a set of words that is complete in itself, typically containing of
subject and predicate, conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command
and consisting of a main clause and sometimes on ore more subordinate clause.
Therefore it can be improved by learn more about types of sentence. Here were
some suggestions that hopefully can be applied in teaching and learning process.
1. For the English Teacher
From the recent findings showed that students still made speech script. The
lack knowledge about the rule of writing is the one of many problems that
caused students become confuse in written process especially in types of
sentence, so the students still need more knowledge. The teacher should be
able to increase and improve their student’s knowledge and their knowledge
about writing composition especially in types of sentence. The teacher also
gave motivation for the students to practice their ability in various aspects of
English skill.
2. For the Next Researcher
Here, the researcher suggests to the next researcher can analyze the types of
sentence in writing speech script to know the students’ understanding by
using language deeper and better than this research. Then the different
object such as in the oral production or the difficulties in the students’ task.
The other researcher can analyze by using the different manner. And also
the next researchers were expected to extend this research. So, the reader
will have better and deeper understanding related to the study.
