Utilizing Wordwall As A Learning Media To Engage Students' Enthusiasm In Learning English

This research aims to find out whether or not utilizing Wordwall as a learning
media engages students’ enthusiasm in learning English at the eighth grade of SMPN 2
Cina. The method of this research was quantitative research. This research used a pre-
experimental design with a one-shot case study design. The population of the research was
students in the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 2 Cina for the 2025/2026 academic year,
totaling 135 students from five classes. This research sample consisted of 24 students and
was selected by using cluster random sampling. The instrument of this research used a
questionnaire: a closed questionnaire with 10 positive questions and 10 negative questions,
and used a Likert scale. The treatment in this research was given four times. The result
indicates that the high post-test mean score of 92.88, with all students (100%) categorized
as strongly enthusiastic, after students were given treatment. Thus, it can be inferred from
what was decided that utilizing Wordwall as a learning media engages students' enthusiasm
in learning English.
A. Conclusion
The researcher came to the conclusion that utilizing Wordwall as a
learning media engages students' enthusiasm in learning English at the
eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Cina, based on the results and the discussion
in the previous chapter. Utilizing Wordwall as a learning media successfully
engaged students’ enthusiasm in learning English, as indicated by the high
post-test mean score of 92.88, with all students (100%) categorized as
strongly enthusiastic. Throughout the treatment, students demonstrated
engaged enthusiasm, active participation, and confidence. Despite that, the
study had limitations, including the use of a one-shot case study design, a
small sample size, and a short duration of only four meetings, which may
affect the generalizability of the results.
B. Suggestion
Looking at the existing facts, utilizing Wordwall as a learning media
in English learning has proven that this website can increase students'
enthusiasm. The researcher gives the following suggestions:
1. Teachers should create an interesting situation in using this website
because students easily feel bored. Teachers need to make the class
fun to engage students to be involved and active in the teaching and
learning process in class. Teachers should also be creative in
managing materials for the class.
2. It is suggested to other researchers who want to take the same field
using this website to develop this research in order to find that this
media engages students’ enthusiasm in English learning.
Lastly, the researcher acknowledges that this thesis still has a lot of
issues; thus, the researcher welcomes feedback and ideas for enhancements.
Teachers, students, and upcoming researchers can all benefit from this
