The Use of Reading Workshop to Improve the Students’ Reading Comprehension of Second Year of MA As’Adiyah Mattirowali’e

The objective of this Research is To find out the degree of the use of reading
workshop is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension at the Second
Grade of MA As’Adiyah Mattirowalie.This Research was undertaken as quanlitative
design . The subject of this Research was in MA Mattirowalie, especially at the
second year. The sample of the study is divided into 2 classes; control class and
experimental class.. The students’ reading comprehension before given the treatment
by using Reading Workshop was very low score. It was different from the students’
reading ability after applying Reading Workshop. This can be seen from the
increasing score in post-test (85) and pre-test (57.5) in experimental class, while the
control class in post-test (65.25) and pre-test (68.75). This proved that by applying
the reading workshop in learning activity gave contribution to the students and it was
more effective in teaching reading comprehension. The enhancement can be seen
through the statistical analysis that T-test value (6.060) was greater than T-table value
(2.000). Reading Workshops a teaching strategy was enough effective in enhancing
the students’reading comprehension in Madrasah Aliyah Mattirowalie.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of the data analysis, research findings, and
discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher concluded that the use of
Reading Workshops is effective in teaching reading at the second grade students
of Madrasah Aliyah Mattirowalie. Reading Workshop can enhance the students’
reading comprehension. The students’ reading comprehension before given the
treatment by using Reading Workshop was very low score. It was different from
the students’ reading ability after applyingReading Workshop. This can be seen
from the increasing score in post-test (85) and pre-test (57.5) in experimental
class, while the control class in post-test (65.25) and pre-test (68.75). This proved
that by applying the reading workshop in learning activity gave contribution to the

B. Suggestion
In relation to the conclusion above, the researcher would like to
suggest the following points:
1. For the Teachers
The English teacher must be creative and give motivation when
teacher transfer the knowledge of English to the students so they can easily
receive and understand the materials. Third, it will be better if English
teacher finds out the appropriate and interesting technique related to the
material. Besides, to give contribution to English teacher that teaching
reading using Reading workshop is more interesting.
2. For Students
The use of Reading workshop will help the students to participate
individually in process of reading. So the students can improve their
achievement in reading.
3. For the Next Researcher
The researcher may suggest the next researcher to conduct further
study that can enhance this research because this research actually can be
broaden and extended to other subject and also in different setting.
