The objectives of the research are to find out, to identify, and to comprehend
the using of YouTube as a learning media in teaching and learning of English
vocabulary at Indonesian Senior High School by during covid-19 pandemic. The data
were analyzed by using qualitative method. The research instrument was taken by
means of interview and documentation is chosen and used by the researcher in activity
to collect data in order to the activity is systematic and flexibility. This study of the use
of learning videos through social media youtube during the pandemic to utilizing
existing technology, the purpose of using learning videos through YouTube social
media is to help and facilitate students in the learning process, and to help make it
easier for teachers. Not only helps make it easier for teachers but also really helps
students in the material presented in the video. However, the obstacles to using youtube
videos in online learning are for their own deficiency, which lie in the limited signal
and internet access they have. So, Schools and teachers work together and facilitate
students who have problems so that they can come directly to school so they can access
YouTube videos and do assignments from teachers directly at school.
A. Conclusions
The conclusions presented in this research are reached in order to
answer the research questions. The following are conclusions from the findings
on the using Youtube as a learning media in teaching english vocabulary at
Indonesian Senior High School students during covid-19 pandemic:
1. In the current pandemic, one of the teacher's efforts so that students are not
bored and excited to learn is to use learning videos. Teachers use learning
videos through YouTube social media, in addition to utilizing existing
technology, the purpose of using learning videos through YouTube social
media is to help and facilitate students in the learning process, and to help
make it easier for teachers. Not only helps make it easier for teachers but
also really helps students in the material presented in the video. In
addition, the use of learning videos through YouTube social media is very
easy for both teachers and students to use.
Online learning turns out to have various lessons for education in Indonesia.
Among them are teachers and students who can master technology to
support online learning, teachers are increasingly innovating in teaching and
learning activities so that students remain enthusiastic. Because it is required
to do online learning, there are online media that can support learning in the
delivery of material in online learning without reducing the quality of
learning materials and achievement targets in learning. Various distance
learning media have been tried and used, including e-learning, zoom
application, google classroom, youtube, and social media such as whatsapp.
The online media can be used optimally, as a medium in carrying out learning
activities such as in class.
B. Suggestions
1. For teachers, it is hoped that youtube video media can be used during
online learning, because it is easy to access anywhere and anytime as well
as various animations and interesting pictures contained on youtube.
2. For students, it is hoped that with the use of youtube video media, students
will be more enthusiastic during the learning process. In addition, students
are expected to be able to work on practice questions after watching
YouTube video media as a test of student understanding.
3. For further researchers and researchers, it is hoped that they will be able
to develop more effective and efficient online learning media in order to
improve student learning outcomes.
