The Use English Language Learning Content on Youtube By Toefl Test Takers: A Study Case Study

This research focusing on the use of YouTube as a learning medium, this study
examined the influence of the Yanto Tanjung YouTube channel on the TOEFL
abilities of test takers. Using a qualitative method and case study design, data
were collected from 82 participants through questionnaires, interviews, and
documentation. Using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions
to analyze data. The findings show that the channel provides an effective
alternative for TOEFL preparation, particularly in listening, structure, and reading.
Key strengths include flexibility in study time and location, ease of use, Ease of
understanding and complete materials. The study highlights the potential of
YouTube as a complementary tool for TOEFL learning.
A. Conclusion
Based on the results and discussions above, it can be concluded that the
use of the Yanto Tanjung YouTube channel as a medium for TOEFL preparation
has a positive influence on participants' abilities. The channel provides flexibility
in study time and location, ease of use, clarity of instruction, and comprehensive
content covering all sections of the TOEFL. Its systematic and communicative
presentation helps learners better understand question patterns and solution
strategies. Although some participants faced challenges, these issues were
manageable through adaptive learning strategies. herefore, this YouTube channel
can be regarded as a relevant, supportive, and appropriate learning resource for
independent TOEFL preparation.
B. Suggestion
Based on the finding and discussion of the research, the researcher propose
some suggestion as follow:
1. Students who are preparing to face the TOEFL test are expected to
optimally utilize digital learning media such as Yanto Tanjung's YouTube
channel to improve their understanding, skills, and confidence in facing
the TOEFL exam as part of efforts to improve their English competence.
2. English teachers or instructors are expected to use the findings of this
study as a reference to develop more interactive and engaging teaching
methods by utilizing YouTube as a medium, especially relevant and
proven effective content such as the Yanto Tanjung channel, so that the
TOEFL learning process in the classroom becomes more dynamic and
efficient.
3. Considering the limitations of this research, which focuses solely on one
learning channel, the findings can serve as an initial reference for future
researchers to conduct a deeper research into the effectiveness of other
digital learning media in the context of English proficiency, especially
TOEFL preparation, by using or comparing different channels or exploring
other types of social media as educational tools.
