Teachers' Perception on the Implementation P5 Project of Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar in Junior High School

The Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar (KMB) is an education policy introduced by the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of
Indonesia to give schools and teachers the freedom to determine ways of teaching
that are more flexible and in accordance with student needs. This research was
conducted with the aim of finding out teachers' perceptions of the implementation
of the KMB project at the junior secondary school level. The method used in this
research are descriptive qualitative method, using observation and interview
instruments in data collection and documentation as supporting evidence. The
subjects in this research were five English teachers at the junior high school level
and were selected by purposive sampling. The results found that teachers'
perceptions in the implementation of the KMB project based on five aspects namely
environment, entrepreneurship, culture, technology, and social it requires guidance
and supervision from the teachers. KMB project also has its own obstacles or
challenges for teachers and students. In addition, teachers also understand the
importance of integrating Pancasila values in English learning through project
media to support students' skill development
A. Conclusion
From the results of the research that has been conducted, it
can be concluded that the teacher's perception of the implementation of
the kmb project in junior high school can be concluded that :
Teachers' perceptions of the implementation of the P5
Project are generally positive, especially in relation to the potential of
the project in shaping learner profiles that are in line with the values of
Pancasila. Teachers realize that through the environmental theme,
students can learn to care more about the environment around them, as
well as enrich their English vocabulary related to this topic. In addition,
the entrepreneurship theme was considered useful in teaching students
how to think creatively and independently, although some teachers
emphasized the need for more support, especially in terms of funding
and implementation time. The theme of culture and technology is also
seen by teachers as an important element in the implementation of
Project P5. Through cultural activities, such as local craft making and
art performances, students are taught to love and preserve their cultural
heritage. Meanwhile, technology is used as an effective tool to capture
students' interest and introduce them to modern skills. Teachers also
agree that students' active involvement in these projects is crucial,
although challenges such as students' lack of focus and limited
resources are often the main obstacles.
in this KMB project revealed that the P5 project has a positive
impact on students' character development. Teachers recognize that
themes such as environment, entrepreneurship, culture, technology and
social can help students build awareness of social responsibility,
independence, and critical and creative thinking skills. In addition,
these projects also provide opportunities for students to hone
communication and cooperation skills that are essential in the language
learning process. However, some challenges also arise in their
implementation. Teachers stated that the lack of resources, time, and
support in terms of capital in entrepreneurial projects is an obstacle. In
addition, students' lack of understanding and active involvement in
some projects is also an obstacle. Therefore, careful planning, intensive
mentoring and collaboration between teachers, students and the
community are needed to ensure the success of these projects in
achieving the desired educational goals.
B. Suggestion
1. English Teachers
This research is expected to be a source of information for
teachers about the application of the KMB project at the junior high
school level so that it can help in the teaching and learning process.
2. Students
This research is expected to motivate students in developing
themselves considering that the p5 project is a forum provided to
innovate creatively to improve their abilities, especially in English.
3. Further Research
This research is expected to be a source of information and
reference related to the p5 project and English.
