This research aimed to investigate students' perception towards the use of the
summary sheet strategy as an English writing activity. The data collection involved
interviews with seven student participants and observations during teaching sessions,
focusing on students’ perspective that related to the application of summarizing
strategies using summary sheets.
The findings regarding students' opinions on summarizing activities using
summary sheets revealed diverse perspectives, emphasizing that cognitive strategies
have an effect on students' memory. Some students expressed positive opinions,
emphasizing the benefits of recalling and relearning lessons. The conclusion drawn
from these interviews is that students get the advantages of using the summary sheet
strategy in enhancing their understanding and retention of information taught at
school.

factors like power outages. Despite these difficulties, the conclusion drawn is that
students, although facing different difficulties can affect the quality and fluency of
their summarizing activities.
Additionally, the examination of the effects of the summary sheet strategy on
students revealed positive impacts on understanding and retention of learning
materials. While individual experiences varied, the general conclusion is that the use
of summary sheets can contribute to improved comprehension and retention of
English learning materials.
Finally, the investigation into the suitability of summarizing activities
involving the use of summary sheets with students' interests and learning styles
concluded that the strategy is considered useful and compatible with individual
preferences. Students expressed that summarizing activities align with their interests
and learning styles, improving cognitive abilities thus facilitating their better
understanding and strengthening the retention of information received in English.
In summary, this research provides valuable insights into students' perception
of the summary sheet strategy, emphasizing the need for educators to consider
individual differences and preferences when incorporating summarizing activities in
English language instruction.
