An Analysis of Teacher's Difficulties in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text in Junior High School

This thesis presents research on teachers' difficulties in teaching writing
descriptive text in junior high school. This research aims to identify and analyze the
difficulties faced by teachers in teaching writing descriptive text. The research
method used is qualitative research with a case study research approach that uses 1
instrument, namely interviews. Sampling in this research used purposive sampling
technique, by selecting two teachers as participants. In this research, researcher
analyzed the data in by reducing, displaying, and conclusions. The results of this
research show that teachers experience various’ difficulties in teaching writing
descriptive text , namely difficulties in Preparation of materials and media for
teaching descriptive text, difficulties in applying methods and techniques for teaching
descriptive text, difficulties in involving students in class, differences in diverse
student characteristics and differences in student learning interests. Therefore, there
are several things that need to be considered before teaching writing descriptive text,
namely: materials and media, students' interest and learning styles, methods and
techniques, and students' characteristics.
A. Conclusions
Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher
drew conclusions regarding the difficulties faced by teachers in teaching writing
descriptive text. The researcher concluded that from the results of the interview it can
be said that teachers have difficulties in preparing materials and media related to the
existence of different students' understanding in learning to write descriptive text,
difficulties in applying methods and techniques related to the existence of more
intensive material preparation and limited learning equipment, difficulties in
involving students in the classroom due to students' lack of focus, differences in
diverse student characteristics with different characteristics including diverse levels
of understanding so that teachers have to adjust the way they teach to ensure all
students can follow and differences in students' learning interests.
B. Suggestions
Based on the above conclusions, the researcher will provide suggestions to all
readers and especially English teachers, students, and future researcher.
CHAPTER V
CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
In this chapter, researcher would present conclusions and suggestions from
this research. The conclusions are the core of data analysis in the previous chapter.
Meanwhile, suggestions are things that researcher hope to pay attention to for several
parties involved in this research in order to achieve better learning or research in the

The researcher suggested that teachers can attend trainings on teaching
strategies in writing effective descriptive text. In addition, it is also necessary
to collaborate between teachers and share experiences and solutions so that
they can always overcome difficulties together.
2. For students
Based on the results of this study, the researcher suggests that students
can interact more with the teacher so as to minimize difficulties in the process
of learning descriptive text.
3. For future researchers
Based on the problems that researcher found when conducting
interviews about teachers' difficulties in teaching writing descriptive text,
researcher suggest that future researcher who want to conduct similar research
so that this can be a reference material related to the difficulties faced by
teachers in teaching writing descriptive text .
