Improving the Students’ Reading Skill Through Preview, Ask-Question, Read and Summarize (PARS) At the EleventhGrade of Ma Ar-Raihan Lattekko

This thesis present research about “: Improving the Students’ Reading Skill Through
Preview,Ask-Question, Read and Summarize (PARS) At the EleventhGrade ofMa
Ar-RaihanLattekk”.This reserach is used to find out whether or not the PARS
learning style can improve students’ Reading ability. This research used quantitative
method approach with Pre-Experimental class. Thereis class as sample namely
experimental class. Class XI as Experimental class consisted of 23 students is applied
using PARS. The researcher gave pre-test, treatment and post-test in analyzing data
the researcher used SPSS 21. The experimental group is given pre-test, treatment and
post test by using PARS.
This result of this research shows that the students have good ability in reading. It can
be seen from the comparison data between the mean score of post-test is significantly
higher than pre-test (70.5217>37.0870). So, the value of paired sample test is
0,040.05 it means that there is different significant of the result in the students
reading skill in pre-test and post-test. The students reading skill by using PARS
strategy
is very high impact. The analysis of questionnaire shows that 20 questions (85%) get very
high and 4 questions are getting high category. Based on the PARS strategy impact of
questioner , it is found that the highest score is 90 which is categorized as very high and
lowest score is 55 which is categorized as good.
B. Suggestions
In view of the fact that narrative text has been proved to enhance the students’ reading
comprehension skill, the researcher would like to give suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher could use PARS strategy as references media in teaching reading. The
teacher could take media in teaching, especially in teaching English reading.
Therefore, the students were always stimulate the students’ interest and motivate
them in learning reading skill. Also The teacher should be creative moreover, the
education system needs them to improve the teaching skill according to the up to
date technology. The equipment also should be sophisticated and functioned
perfectly to the students in class.
2. For the other researcher It is suggested that other researcher may use the research
results as information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in
the same design to improve the students’ reading comprehension skill with different
subject.
