The Use of Digital Storytelling to Improve Students Writing Skills

This research discusses the use of digital storytelling to improve students writing
skill, which aims to find out whether the use of digital storytelling to improve students
writing skills is effective or not. This research uses a pre-experimental design method.
The population of this study were students from MTsN 1 Bone. The sample chosen was
27 students of class IX RMBI. The instrument used in this research was 3 essay
questions and the results were set using the SPSS application. The research results
showed that there were significant differences in the students pre-test and post-test. The
average pre-test score was 50.37 and the average post-test score was 86.444 which
shows that in research digital storytelling to improve students writing skill can be said
be effective
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concluded that digital storytelling was used to improve students'
writing skills. This can be seen from the test results which show there is a
significant difference between the students' pre-test and post-test. Where the
average students post-test score is higher than the student pre-test score (86.444
> 50.37). The t test value is greater than the t table value (-31.359 ). And also the
calculated significant value of 0.000 is less than 0.05. This means that Ho is
rejected and H1 is accepted, so that the use of digital storytelling to improve
students' writing skills.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusions stated above, the researcher has several
suggestions for students, it is hoped that students can participate in the learning
process in class, be more motivated in learning English and focus more on the
teacher's explanations. Students are expected to more easily understand the
lessons given by the teacher. So students must be motivated to learn English,
especially in using digital storytelling to improve students' writing skills as a
learning medium. Suggestions for teachers, teachers can use YouTube
application books as learning media to consider learning English in improving
students' writing skills. Suggestions for future researchers. Hopefully it can help
other researchers to use this reference as a guide for conducting further research
using the same techniques or fields related to digital storytelling through other
skills such as listening, speaking and reading
