This research aimed to find out the improvement of students‟ speaking
skill by using one-minute talk technique in the English education program at
Universitas Muhammadiyah (UNIM) Bone. The research's population consisted
of 40 second-semester students from the English education program at UNIM
Bone in the academic year 2023-2024. The sample number was 20 students,
chosen through purposive sampling. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were
used in this research by using the model of classroom action research design
developed by Kemmis and McTaggart. The instruments of this research were
observation, speaking test and speaking rubric. This research focused on students‟
speaking skills in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency. The
result of this research showed that the students‟ improvement from the pre-test to
the second cycle was highly improved, where the students‟ success in the
speaking skill test in the pre-test was 59.5, then in the first cycle was 71.9, and in
the second cycle was 82.9. So it can be concluded that one-minute talk technique
in the teaching and learning process can improve students' speaking skills in terms
of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency in the second semester of the
English education program at UNIM Bone.
A. Conclusion
Based on discussion proposed in previous chapter, students‟
speaking skills improved based on the findings of the pre-test was 59.5, in
cycle 1 was 71.9, and cycle 2 was 82.9. The percentage of students‟
improvement from pre-test to cycle 1 was 20.8% and from cycle 1 to cycle 2
was 15.3 So, it can be concluded that the use of one-minute talk technique in
teaching-learning process improves students‟ speaking skill in terms
pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency of the English education
program students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bone.
B. Suggestion
In line with the above conclusion of this classroom action research,
some suggestions could be made as follows:
1. For English Teachers
The one-minute talk technique is effective to improve
students‟ speaking skills in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar,
and fluency. As a result, it is strongly recommended that it be used in
classroom teaching of English speaking in order to improve students'
speaking skills. Teachers should also be creative in teaching English,
particularly when it comes to speaking, because mastering English requires
more skill or method of improvement.

2. For Students
Students should actively participate in their language learning by
practicing speaking frequently. Setting aside time each day for
conversation practice or joining a language group will greatly improve
fluency. Expanding vocabulary is also important, students should learn
new words and phrases frequently and apply them in speaking practice to
improve their expression. Furthermore, recording and evaluating their own
speech can help students identify areas for improvement in pronunciation.
3. For Future Researchers
Future researchers should investigate innovative techniques for
improving speaking skills. So students can use other speaking cases to
improve, whether they use this technique or another one. However, it is
beneficial to use this technique to determine how students speaking skills
improve in different discussions. The findings of this research can also be
utilized as extra references or to guide future research with other
discussions.
