Emotional Intelligence and students' speaking achievement are correlated. This
research aims to examine the effect of Emotional Intelligence Emotional Intelligence
on students' speaking achievement. The total population in the study was 330 students
in grade XI, the total participants were 30 students from grade XI IPA 2 at SMAN 15
Bone. The participants was taken by using Cross-sectional survey technique of
cluster random sampling technique. The data of this study were obtained from
questionnaires and speaking tests. The data obtained were then analyzed using simple
regression formula and t-test. Empirical evidence shows that there is a significant
influence between Emotional Intelligence on students' speaking achievement with a
value of Sig. 0.000t-tabe l= 2.048. Since the Sig. value is
less than 0.05 and the t-count is higher than the t-table, this indicates that H0 is
rejected, which means H1 is accepted. This illustrates that there is a significant
influence of variable X (emotional intelligence) on variable Y (students' speaking
achievement).
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the influence
of students' emotional intelligence on students' speaking ability, it
can be concluded as follows that students' emotional intelligence (X)
and students' speaking ability (Y) together show that there is a
significant influence on the English speaking ability of students in
class XI IPA 2 at SMAN 15 BONE by looking at the results of
the regression analysis equation that the significance value of the
influence of X on Y is 0.000 2.048 so it
can be concluded that H1 is accepted which means there is an
influence of students' emotional intelligence on students' speaking
ability.
B. Suggestion
From the results and conclusions of the study, suggestions from
this research are addressed to teachers, students, and for future
researchers
1. For teachers, especially for English subjects, it is hoped that
they can create an interesting and conducive learning
environment, and provide high motivation in order to create
good emotional intelligence.
2. The results of this research suggest that students can use it as a tool
to understand their emotional intelligence so as to improve English
learning achievement, especially in the speaking section, because
students have the responsibility to complete the learning and see
the lesson not as a daunting burden.
3. For future researchers, this research still has many limitations
and shortcomings, it is hoped that it can explore other factors
besides students' emotional intelligence that can affect
students' speaking ability.
