Promoting Learners’ Cefr Level Using British Council Englishscore Application In Teaching Reading Skill
Vera/882032020055 - Personal Name
This research aimed to determine whether the use of British Council EnglishScore
application test is effective to promote learners’ CEFR level in teaching reading skill.
The participants in this research were star intermediate step 3 level learners at
GRACE English course with a sample of 10 learners. In this research, the researcher
used quantitative method with pre-experiment design. In addition, the instrument
used was a test to promote learners’ reading skill. The results of this research indicate
an increase between the learners’ pre-test and post-test where the mean value of the
pre-test (69.0) is smaller than the mean value of the post-test (90.0). Furthermore, the
significance value of the calculations result is 0.02 which is smaller than (0.05). The
calculated t value is also evidenced by the post-test value (11.50) which is greater
than the t table (a) = 0.05. Based on the explanation above, the Alternative
Hypothesis (Ha) of this research is accepted and the Null Hypothesis (H0) of this
research is rejected. This means that the research hypothesis is accepted. Therefore,
the researcher concluded that the British Council EnglishScore application test is
effective in improving learners' CEFR level in reading skill.
A. Conclusion
Based on the results of the discussion in the previous chapter, the
conclusion of this research is as follows: using the British Council
EnglishScore application is effective to promote learners reading skill and
learners’ can find out the level of CFER reading and promoting their level.
Starting on July 31,2024. This research was conducted for six meetings,
namely pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The results of this research can show
a relationship between learners pre-test and post-test where the average pre-
test score (69.0) is smaller than the average post-test score (90.0).
Furthermore, the significance value of the calculation is 0.002 which is
smaller than (0.05). The t-value is also proven by the post-test value (11.50)
which is greater than t table (a) = 0.05. This means that the research
hypothesis is accepted. Based on the explanation above, the Alternative
Hypothesis (Ha) of this research is accepted and the Null Hypothesis (H0) of
this research is rejected. Therefore, the researcher concluded that "The use of
British Council EnglishScore application test is effective to promote learners’
CEFR level in teaching reading skill”.
B. Suggestion
Based on the results of the research, the researcher would like to provide
the following suggestions:
1. For English teacher
The proper teaching and learning strategies must be used by English
teachers in order to help learners’ acquire reading skills. Consequently, it is
strongly advised to use the British Council EnglishScore application. To get
learners’ more interested in learning to read, English teachers need to be
creative in how they run their classes and avoid using boring teaching
techniques or media.
2. For learners’
Learners’ are expected to promoting their interest and ability in learning
reading skills. They can use the British Council EnglishScore application to
promoting the reading skills of CEFR level learners’.
3. For other researchers
This research is expected to provide information for other researchers to
know more about the futures of British Council EnglishScore application and
using this application to measure the their learners reading skill.
