This research aims to find out whether English subtitled anime as English learning
media improve SMKN 1 Bone students’ mastery of simple present and simple
past tenses. This research is conducted using quantitative research methods with
Pre-Experimental research. Data are collected from 25 students of class XI MPLB
3. Data collection is done by using a test; pre-test and post-test as instruments.
Tests are carried out to see whether the sub-Engligh anime as English learning
media support students’ mastery of simple present and simple past tenses. The
results of data analysis show that in the pre-test the average score was only 30.0
and become 40.2 in the post-test. This shows that the class that used English
subtitled anime as English learning media shows a improving. Then the result of
the t-test analysis obtained by the paired sample t-test show that H0 is not accepted
and H1 is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant improvement
in the learning outcomes of eleventh grade of SMKN 1 Bone after using English
subtitled anime as English learning media.
A.Conclusion
After conducting research at SMKN 1 Bone and after the data has gone
through the analysis process, it can be concluded that English subtitled Anime as
English learning media improves SMKN 1 Bone students’ mastery of simple
present and simple past tenses. This can be proven by the fact that the class
average score has increased significantly in the post-test score. The post-test score
increased significantly after the treatment. In the pre-test, the average score was
32.0 which increased to 40.2 in the post-test. The mastery level before treatmnent
is ‘Did not meet expectation’ and after treatment it is ‘Fairly satisfactory’.
The results of the t-test analysis are obtained Sig. 0.000. Based on the
criteria for hypothesis testing, this means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, so
it can be concluded that English subtitled Anime as English learning media
improve SMKN 1 Bone students’ mastery of simple present and simple past
tenses. It can be seen from the significant increase in student learning outcomes
after using the learning media
B. Suggestion
Suggestions for teachers, hopefully teachers can apply media that is
attractive to students so that learning feels fun, one example is the use of audiovisual media, namely English subtitled Anime. In this thesis, it is hoped that this
thesis can be useful for researchers and readers.
Suggestions for schools so that the results of this research can be an
effective teaching method or learning media in the classroom, such as using
English subtitled anime as an English learning media and implementing the
research results optimally, as well as conducting regular evaluations to
assess effectiveness and make necessary adjustments based on feedback from
students and learning outcomes.
A further suggestion for future researchers to conduct similar research
using different variables or different fields with similar aspects is to explore how
variations in new variables or contexts may affect similar outcomes, thus
providing a broader and deeper perspective on the phenomenon under study. This
will make it possible to understand the extent to which the findings of this study
can be generalized and applied across different situations or populations.
The researcher realizes that there are still many flaws in this research,
therefore, it is recommended that future research conduct a more in-depth
evaluation of the methodology used, expand the sample range, and apply more
sophisticated analytical techniques to overcome these limitations
