The Use of Self Video Recording Method to Reduce Anxiety in Speaking English (Study At SMPN 1 Ulaweng)

This research aims to determine whether the use of the self video recording method is
more effective than conventional way methods to reduce english speaking anxiety and
improving speaking skills of students at SMPN 1 Ulaweng. This type of research is
quantitative experimental research with a quasi-experimental method (nonequivalent
Control Group Design). This research uses two groups: the experimental group and
the control group. The population of the research consists of 153 students at SMPN 1
Ulaweng, with a sample of 62 students, 31 students from class VII A as the
experimental group, and 31 students from class VII B as the control group who were
selected using cluster random sampling techniques. Data collection techniques was
carried out using questionnaires. Researcher administered a pre-test, treatment, and
post-test for the experimental group and a pre-test and post-test for the control group.
From the results of the post-test questionnaire, the average score obtained by the
experimental class was 88.58, much lower than the average post-test score of the
control class, which was 93.61. This is also evident from the t-test results, which show
