The Application of Picture Matching as Learning Method to Improve Students` Vocabulary.

This research presents research about the application of picture matching as learning
method to improve students` vocabulary mastery. This research aims to know the
application of picture matching as learning method to improving students` vocabulary
mastery at SMPN 7 Watampone. There are two variables in this research, the
dependent variables are the students` vocabulary mastery and the independent
variables is picture matching as learning method. This research applied quantitative
method which used pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test.
The researcher used the judgment sampling the sample consists of 31 students from
the VII B of SMPN 7 Watampone. The researcher gave pre-test, treatment and post-
test. data of students` vocabulary mastery were analyzed by using SPSS 23. The
result of this research showed that after applying picture matching as learning method
to improve students` vocabulary mastery, it shows the mean score of post-tests higher
than the pre-test (79.19>66.94). it also could be seen from the result of t-test showed
0.00 which was < significant degree (0.05), Then, t-count > t-table (7.808>1.69726).
it can be defined that H0 (null hypothesis) is rejected, and automatically H1
(alternative hypothesis) is accepted. Therefore, it can be stated the application of
picture matching as learning method is effective to improve students` vocabulary
mastery.
A. Conclusion
In conclusion, the application picture matching to help students become more
proficient in vocabulary is a successful strategy. The standard deviation, mean score
before and after the test, and mean score after the test can all be used to demonstrate
this. The pre-test had a mean score of 66.94 and a standard deviation of 11.524, but
the post-test had a mean score of 79.19 and a standard deviation of 0.495.
Additionally, the t test results show 0.00, which is less than the significance level of
0.05. As a result, the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is
accepted. t-count > t-table (7.808 > 1.69726) after that. It was reported that, following
therapy using picture matching, there is a noteworthy difference between students'
vocabulary mastery on the pre-test and post-test.
B. Suggestion
Based on the research results and conclusions, the researcher wants to provide
suggestions as follows:
a. For teacher
The English teacher must be creative in managing the learning method, it
must be integrated into the class.
b. For students
Learning English is very important in this modern era, Students must be active
to learn. They have to mastering vocabulary because it is one of the basics
learning English.
c. For the next researcher
This research gave quite good results, and it is hoped that further research will
give better results. Also used quasi-experiment research design, with
experiment class and control class.
