Arfinah Arafah/882032020003 - Personal Name
The objective of this research was to find out the students’ learning style in
descriptive text on reading ability in Junior High School. Conducted in Junior
high school, this research applied qualitative method with the implementation of
descriptive research. Moreover, research instruments such as observation checklist
and interview are used to collect the data from the participants of Indonesian
Junior High School students by applying the random sampling. This research
showed the learning style that students prefer on reading in descriptive text with
the level of Auditory, Visual and Kinesthetic. Based on the research that had been
conducted, the most dominant learning style of students in Junior High School is
Auditory learning style.
A. Conclusion
In conclusion, learners in Junior High School exhibit a range of
learning styles, with a discernible preference for visual and auditory
modalities over kinesthetic ones. Listening to talks and explanations aids
auditory learners in processing and remembering knowledge. Abstract
topics become easier to understand for visual learners when they can see
and arrange information using diagrams, photos, and other visual aids.
However, because of the physical difficulties and social components
required, many students may find kinesthetic methods less enticing for
reading descriptive literature, even though they offer hands-on and
participatory experiences. All things considered, students' inclination
toward auditory and visual ways underscores a propensity to use learning
strategies that are more in line with conventional and direct approaches to
reading comprehension.
B. Suggestions
1. English Teachers
It is expected that the research will provide English teachers
with knowledge about how to utilize descriptive text to assess reading
comprehension and adapt their teaching methods accordingly for
junior high school students.
2. Students
It is expected that the research will be able to inspire students
to keep learning and to think creatively in order to further their
language acquisition in English classrooms.
3. Further Research
It is expected that this research will serve as a reference and a
valuable source of data for future research on the English language
and teaching style.
