The Use of Problem Based Learning in Teaching Reading Comprehension at Junior High School

The purpose of this research was to find out the effectiveness of PBL in
teaching reading comprehension at junior high school. The method used in this
research was a Quasi experimental method. The sample of this research was class
VIII Of Mts Miftahul khaer mare as the control class. In data collection, the
researcher gave the test twice, namely the pre-test and post-test. The instrument
used in this research was 10 multiple choice questions about narrative text wich
have been declared valid. The result was, the researcher hypothesis ( ) was
accepted and the null hypothesis ( ) was rejected. In other words,problem based
learning was effective in improving the reading understanding of class VIII
Student of Mts miftahul khaer mare, Based on the data above, it was found that
the average difference in post-test reading comprehension between the
experimental group and the control group. From the table, it was known that the
test value was 3,505 with a significance value of ,001. Because the significance
