This thesis presents research about Using Western Pop Song to Increase Listening Ability at The Fifth Semester of English Educational Program of STAIN Watampone. There are two variables in this research. The dependent variable is students’ English listening ability. The independent variable is the application western pop song.rnThis research used quantitative method. The sample consisted of 26 students from the second group of the fifth semester English Educational Program of STAIN Watampone.The researcher gave pretest, treatments, and posttest, while the data obtained through test were analyzed with mean score and the formula of t-test. The experimental group was given pretest, the treatment and posttest by using western pop song.rnThe result of the study shown that there was a significant improvement of the students’ achievement after the treatment on the experimental group. Then, the students of the experimental group that given treatment and posttest by using western pop songas mediagot higher achievement.From the data could be concluded that teaching listening by using western pop songmedia could increase the students’ listening abilityin studylistening of the fifth semester of English Educational Program of STAIN Watampone.rnA. ConclusionrnBased on the findings and discussion above, the researcher comes to conclusion.rnStudents’ ability is improved in learning listening through western pop song media of the fifth semester of English Educational Program of STAIN Watampone Academic Year 2016/2017. It is proved by the result of students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test. The students’ ability is proved based on their score in post test better than pre test which has different significant of their score. rnB. SuggestionsrnThe researcher gives suggestion to all readers and especially for teachers, lecturers or instructors and students that:rn1. For the improvement of the teaching English, the researcher suggests to the English teacher especially listening should give the good method in teaching English based on the students’ ability. Using western pop song can improve students’ listening ability.rn2. The teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for teaching listening and the teacher should be creative in applying new media for students to improve their achievement in studying listening. rn3. The students can improve their ability and always practice to be well in listening ability.rnrnrnrn
