The Effect of Collaborative Writing toward the Students’ Self- Confidence at the Tenth Grade of MA Pompanua

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of collaborative writing
toward the students self-confidence at the tenth grade of MA Pompanua.This study
was undertaken as qualitative design with essay assignment and interview. The
subject of this studywas in MA Pompanua, especially at the tenth grade. The sample
of the study was taken by using purposive sampling technique, researcher took15
students. As for the sample selected based on the activiness of students in
participating in learning, in order to provide accurate information about this study. As
the result, The study suggested that with collaborative writing has good effect toward
the students’ self-confidence because collaborative writing provides the opportunity
to gather idea, work together and solve problem together. So, it is possible to receive
helps from others and facilitate language improvement and also develop
communication skill so that it produces quality written texts in terms of content,
organization, vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics.
A. Conclusion
Based on the presentation of data and data analysis described in chapter
III, the researcher can finally provide conclusions about the effect of collaborative
writing toward the students’ self-confidence at the tenth grade of MA Pompanua:
collaborative writing has good effect toward the students’ self-confidence which
is signed the attitude of confidence in self-efficacy, optimistic, objective,
responsible and rational and realistic because collaborative writing provides the
opportunity to gather idea, work together and solve problem together. So, it is
possible to receive helps from others and facilitate language improvement and
also develop communication skill so that it produces quality written texts in terms
of vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics.
B. Suggestions
Based on the research result and conclusions in this result, the researcher
provides the following suggestions:
1. For teacher
English teachers should know the students needs and students interests
during the learning process build learning interests so that students can be
motivated during the study. The teacher should not only pay attention on students’
final product in writing but also observe the process of students’ writing activity
includes the students’ mental conditions during writing process. So, Teachers’
role in the creation of such environments is important.
2. For students
Having good self-confidence in learning is so important.The more students’
self-confidence, it will have better effect of result. Thus, the students not need to
feel like anxiety, and worry about their competence.
3. For next researchers
Due to in this research gave quite good results, it is expected that
other researchers can do better than this study and provide better result.
