The Use Of Storybook Reading Material In Enhancing The Student’s Vocabulary Knowledge At The Seventh Grade Of Smpn Satap 3 Tonra

This study aims to enhance student’s vocabulary knowledge by use of
storybook reading material. This research was conducted through descriptive
qualitative method and descriptive quantitative method. This research conducted
by using Classroom Action Research (CAR), the subject of this research is class
VII students of SMPN SATAP 3 TONRA which consisted of 10 students. This
research conducted in two cycles, cycle I consisted of four meetings and cycle II
consisted of two meetings. The data was taken from giving test questions to
determine students’ vocabulary knowledge in the use of storybook reading
material, the result of this study indicates that there is an increasing in vocabulary
knowledge in the use of storybook reading material in the pre-test cycle I only
20% students got succeed and 80% not succeed, in the post-test cycle I only 40%
students god succeed and 60% not succeed, in the post-test cycle II increased to
70% students succeed and 30% failed. In other words, students’ vocabulary
knowledge increases and becomes good at the first meeting until the next meeting.

A. Conclusion
Based on the presentation of data and data analysis described in chapter
III, it can be concluded that:
The use of storybook reading material in enhancing the students
vocabulary knowledge of SMPN SATAP 3 Tonra especially class VII. The result
shows from the cycle I, achievement was too low there were only 20% students
got succeed and 80% not succeed, and post-test the students in the cycle I only
40% students got succeed and 60% not succeed, but at the second cycle improved
to 70% students succeed and 30% failed. There is an increasing in use of
storybook reading material in enhancing the students vocabulary knowledge. This
can be seen from the results of the student‟s average score in each cycle has
enhanced.
B. Suggestion
Based on the research results and conclusions in this study, the researcher
would like to suggest:
1. For the teacher
a. The English teacher should be more creative in choosing the methods
or approach that will be used in teaching process.
b. The English teacher should provide motivation and guidance to
students in teaching and learning activities so that students are more
active and interested in learning.
c. The English teacher should often give practice how to improve the
vocabulary skill of the students.
2. For the students
The students had to be more active in the classroom. A further
effort needs to be made by the students is to encourage themselves in
mastering vocabulary without worries of making mistakes. It gives
advantages for the students if they can develop their vocabulary mastery
they can easily understand what they heard, say, read, and write.
3. For next researcher
To anyone who would like to conduct similar research in order to
conduct the research patiently and carefully for the sake of getting better
result of the research.
