This thesis presents research about The EffectivenessOf One Direction’s Songs To Improve Students’ British Pronunciation Ability In Word At Eleventh Exact 2 OF MAN 2 WATAMPONE.
This research used quantitative method of the research is pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest. There are two variable in this research. The dependent variable is students’ British pronunciation ability. The independent variable is Using One Direction’s songs.
The population of this research is eleventh grade students of MAN 02 Watampone in academic year 2016/2017.The researcher applyed cluster sampling technique.The way in collecting data by using pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test.The result of the study shown that there was a significant improvement of the students’ achievement after the treatment.. Another result shown that the students were highly motivated if the teacher used One Direction’s song in learning British Pronunciation.From the data could be conclude that teaching British pronunciation by using One Direction’s song is effective to improve the students’ British pronunciation achievementand also improve students’ motivation.
Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion above, the researcher comes to conclusion. They are as follows:
1.The progress of mean score of students’ British pronunciation before and after giving treatment shows that listening English song that means in this research is One Direction’s song is effective to improve students’ British pronunciation achievement. The effectiveness of One Direction’s songs can be seen from the significant test result. T – test ( 10,520) is higher than t-table (2,690)
2.Most of students are interested in learning English by using songs. It can be seen from It makes them more relax instead of threatened with theory. Their motivation in learning English increases and they expect that this kind of program will be given regularly and continously.
B. Suggestions
1.English teacher should use interesting media such as song in teaching-learning process.Song have very big benefit for the students. Not only for teaching pronunciation, Many parts of English can be taught through song such as teaching vocabulary, grammar, or kind of text.
2.The teacher should be creative in applying new media for students to improve their motivation in studying pronunciation such as song . It is known that almost all students love song , it means that to get the students’ participation in the teaching-learning process, song can be the effective media.
