Developing the Students’ Procedural Text through Series Picture at the Twelfth Grade of MAN 1 Watampone

This thesis presents research about Developing the Students’ Procedural Text through Series Picture at the Twelfth Grade of MAN 1 Watampone. This research used quantitative method by using pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population was all the students of the twelfth grade of MAN 1 Watampone that consisted of 8 classes with the total 203 students. The researcher used purposive sampling in selecting the sample. The sample was the students of Unggulan IPA that consisted of 24 students. The research data were collected by using two kinds of instruments namely: writing test to find out the the students’ writing achievement and questionnaire to find out the students’ interest. The result of this research are (1) using series picture in teaching procedural text gave better effect and it was helpful in developing the students’ writing achievement. It is supported by the mean score of post-test 91.04 is higher than pre-test 76.79. It developes 14.04. Besides, the t-test (5.722) is higher than t-table (2.690). It shows that the students’ writing achievement developed significantly after getting treatment. (2) the students’ interest in studying procedural text through series picture is very high. It is supported by the result of mean score (86.16). In other words, series picture is an interesting media that can be used in teaching procedural text.rnConclusionrnBased on the findings and discussion above, the researcher comes to conclusion. They are as follows: rnSeries picture develops the students’ writing achievement at the twelfth grade of MAN 1 Watampone. It is supported by the data of mean score which have been explained in the chapter 4, the mean score of pre-test is 76.79 and the mean score of post-test is 91.04. It means that the score of the students after getting treatment develop 14.25 score. Besides, the t-test (5.722) is higher than t-table (2.690) and it shows that the students’ writing achievement develops significantly after getting treatment.rnThe students’ interest in studying procedural text through series picture is very high. It is supported by the result of the mean score (86.16). The data from questionnaire show that there are 18 students or 75% are in very high category, 5 (21%) students are in high category, and only 1 student or 4% is in moderate category. rnSuggestions rnBased on the conclusion given before, some suggestions can be submitted as follows:rnThe teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for teaching writing such as using series picture.rnThe teacher should be creative in applying new media for students to develop their achievement and interest in studying writing. rnrn
