The Effectiveness of Using Brain-based Learning Strategy to Enhance Students’ Writing Skill at Indonesian Junior High School Context

This research is entitled The Effectiveness of Using Brain-based Learning
Strategy to Enhance Students' Writing Skills at Indonesian Junior High School
Context. This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental research
design consisting of pre-test and post-test groups. The purpose of this study is to
determine the effectiveness of using Brain Based Learning Strategy to Enhancing
Students' writing Skills. There are two variables in this study, namely the
independent variable is BBL strategy and the dependent variable is students'
writing skills. The sample in this study consisted of only one class, namely class
VIII A which consisted of 29 students. The sample applied in this research is
cluster random sampling. In this study, researchers used writing test as a research
instrument. Namely writing test about descriptive text. The result of this research
is shows that there is a significant difference between the students' pre-test scores
and students' posttest scores, the pre-test value of 53.79 and the post-test value of
87.79. It is evident from the significance value in this study which is 0.000 which
has a smaller value than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Apart from that, the t-test value is
higher than the t-table value (t-test 15.239 > t-table 1.701). This clearly shows that
H 0 is rejected and H a is accepted. So that the use of Brain-based Learning Strategy
is effective in enhancing students' writing skills of Indonesian Junior High School
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis and discussion contained in chapter IV the
researcher can conclude that:
The use of a Brain Based Learning Strategy to Enhance Students' Writing
Skills at Indonesian Junior High School has proven to be effective. Judging from
the test results, it shows that there is a significant difference between the students'
pre-test scores and students' post-test scores, namely the pre-test value of 53.79
and the post-test value of 87.79. It is evident from the significance value in this
study which is 0.000 which has a smaller value than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Apart
from that, the t-test value is higher than the t-table value (t-test 15.239 > t-table
1.701). This clearly shows that H 0 is rejected and H a is accepted. So that the use of

the eighth grade of Junior High School in Bone.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusions above, the researcher has been explain the
suggestions as follows:
1. Brain Based Learning Strategy is an activity that can arouse students'
interest and tension in learning. Especially in learning to write English this
strategy can be used as a good alternative.
2. For teachers
It is very wise to use this Brain Based Learning Strategy in
learning, because this strategy can make students more active and not feel
bored in class. And also the use of this strategy can be applied at all grade
levels.
3. It is hoped that by using this Brain Based Learning Strategy students will
be more interested in learning, especially in English lessons. And also can
make it easier for students to understand lessons in writing English. This
BBL strategy can also make the class more relaxed and fun so that
students are not pressured to complete assignments.
