The Utilization of Information a nd Communication Technology in The Process of Learning English In High School

The aim of this research was to find out the utilization of information and
communication technology and the obstacles in the use of information and
communication technology as a media for learning English. This research use
qualitative method. The subjects of this study were the grade eleventh science two
students of SMAN 3 Bone. The result shows that student enthusiasm in learning
increases and makes it easier for students to receive material because learning
using laptop media, projectors, power points, and Youtube is more interesting and
not boring and the researcher found three obstacles of using ICT in the English
learning process: 1) Projectors that did not work properly, 2) school electricity
went out, and 3) network disturbances. Therefore, the researcher suggested that
the utilization of information and communication technology can be used as
alternative media in the process of learning English.
A. Conclusion
The utilization of information and communication technology as a
media for learning English, because learning using laptop media,
projectors, power points, and youtube is more entertaining and not boring,
student excitement for learning improves and makes it simpler for students
to absorb material.
While based on the second research question, related to the
obstacles in the use of information and communication technology as a
media for learning English, the results of the research, ineffective
projectors, outages of the school's electricity, and network disruptions
were the three obstacles the researcher identified with using ICT in the
English learning process.
B. Suggestion
After closing the conclusion and conducting the research, the
researcher has several suggestions for English teacher, students, and future
researcher.
1. For teacher
For teachers to be motivated to make learning interesting
and creative so that it can be conveyed to students trying to pay
attention and do the assignments that have been given by the
teacher even though there are obstacles in doing the work, a good
solution is to communicate to the teacher and convey what
obstacles hinder doing the task or difficulty in accepting learning.
2. For students
The researcher hopes that students can continue to increase
their enthusiasm for learning and make the best use of ICT in the
learning process both in English subjects and other subjects and not
misuse ICT media.
3. For other researcher
Suggestion for the further researcher, hopefully, this
research can be useful for anyone who wants to take references in
increasing the knowledge of researcher about the utilization of
information and communication technology in the process of
learning english in high schools.
