An Analysis Of Teachers Teaching Method In Teaching English At SMAN 2 Bone

This research aimed at finding out: (1) The teachers‟ teaching method in
teaching English at SMAN 2 Bone, (2) The factors that influence the selection of
teaching methods used by teachers in teaching English at SMAN 2 Bone, (3) The
obstacle faced by teachers in selecting the teaching methods in teaching English at
SMAN 2 Bone. Qualitative research is used to find and analyze data collection by
researcher during research. Data of the research were collected through interview
and observation. The data was taken from three English teachers of SMAN 2
Bone. The main research finding were: (1) There were five methods that applied
by the teachers in teaching English. The methods were such as grammar
translation method, audio lingual method, communicative language teaching
method, total physical response, and 3P (presentation, practice, and production).
(2) There were four factors to be considered in selecting a method in teaching
English, namely the learning objectives, the students‟ ability and learning style,
the time allotted for the class, and the nature of content or material. (3) Teachers
found some obstacles in selecting teaching methods which were divided into
several categories, including obstacles in selecting teaching method based on the
learning objectives, obstacles in selecting teaching method based on the students‟
ability and learning style, obstacles in selecting teaching method based on the time
allotted for the class, and obstacles in selecting teaching method based on the
nature of content or material.
A. Conclusion
Based on the discussion on chapter IV, the researcher draws the conclusion
related the questions of this research related to the teachers teaching method in
teaching English at SMAN 2 Bone, as follows:
1. The teachers who become partricipants in this research applied various
methods in teaching English. The methods namely grammar translation
method, audio lingual method, communicative language teaching method,
total physical response, and 3P (presentation, practice, and production).
2. There were four factors to be considered in selecting a method in teaching
English, namely the learning objectives, the students‟ ability and learning
style, the time allotted for the class, and the nature of content or material.
3. Teachers found some obstacles in selecting teaching methods which were
divided into several categories, including obstacles in selecting teaching
method based on the learning objectives, obstacles in selecting teaching
method based on the students‟ ability and learning style, obstacles in
selecting teaching method based on the time allotted for the class, and
obstacles in selecting teaching method based on the nature of content or
material.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusion above, the researcher recommends some
suggestion as follows:
1. For the teachers
In teaching English, teachers must be creative to make students more
active in the classroom and increase their enthusiasm for learning. Considering
of students characteristic who easily get bored in learning, particularly when
using monotonous methods. Therefore, teachers can vary teaching methods to
make the teaching and learning process more enjoyable and effective.
Furthermore, teachers must be able to make maximize learning time, so that it
is not wasted.
2. For next Researchers
The finding of the research was expected to be used as a consideration
for other researchers who plan to conduct a research related to the teachers‟
teaching method in teaching English especially. It will be better if this research
will be continued in the future.
