The Influence of Students Extrovert and Introvert Personality on Their Speaking Ability in English Department of IAIN Bone

This study was aimed at investigating whether there is significant influence
between extrovert and introvert students in speaking ability of English Department at
IAIN Bone. This study belongs to ex post facto design with quantitative approach.
For the data collection, there were questionnaire and speaking test as the instruments.
The questionnaire was adapted from Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) which
categorized the students into introvert and extrovert. The population of this study was
the fourth semester students of English Department at IAIN Bone with a total 44
students, with a sample of 20 students who had been assigned random sampling
technique of the population. The result found that there were 13 extrovert students, 15
ambivalence students and 16 introvert students. The result of the speaking test is the
extrovert students' achievement was 16,6 and the introvert students' achievement was
8,6 as the average for their speaking ability. Both of the questionnaire and speaking
test result were then analyzed by using Pearson Correlation. It found out the
correlation was significant at the 0.01 level. Meanwhile the basic determine of
Pearson Correlation was if the Sig. < 0,05 so the variable were correlated. Based on
the result of the study, the alternative hypothesis (H 1 ) was accepted and the null
hypothesis (H 0 ) was rejected. In conclusion there is significant influence of extrovert
and introvert students in speaking ability of English Department at IAIN Bone.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, it can be
concluded that the introvert students are 16 students and the extrovert students are 13
students. Based on the recapitulation of students' answer on questionnaire and the
researcher concludes that there is different result between introvert and extrovert
students' ability in speaking. Extrovert students' score is better than introvert students.
It can be seen from the introvert students mean score is 8,6 of 10 samples and the
extrovert students mean score is 16,6 of 10 samples.
Based on manual and statistical calculation in the findings of students‟
speaking ability, it has shown
between extrovert and introvert students in speaking ability of English Department at
