This research discussed about Implementing Expository Text to Enhance
Students Reading Comprehension at Junior High School Context. This was a
quantitative form of the researcher applied the pre-experimental method with one
group pre-test and post-test design. Researcher was conducted in the classroom
and meet with students directly in the classroom through the learning process.
There were two variables of this research; they were independent variable and
dependent variable, while the independent variable was expository text and
dependent variable was students’ reading comprehension. The population of this
research was the second year students of SMPN 2 Barebbo academic year
2022/2023 consisting of 368 students. The sample of the research consisted of 120
students which were taken by using cluster sampling technique; there were 31
students from class VIII D.
This research used only one instrument. That was the reading test.
Furthermore, that instrument process was used pre-test and post-test. Then the
researcher collects data by applying learning related to expository text in eight
meetings and each meeting the researcher provides a test in the from of a text
expository to improve students’ reading comprehension. Data analysis that the
mean score of the pre-test is 46.94 and mean score of the post-test is 80.55 this
indicate that there is a significant difference where is lower than alpha (α)
