The Descriptive Study on Students‟ Reading Comprehension through Questioning Strategy in Indonesian Senior High School

This thesis aims to discuss students' Reading Comprehension through
Questioning Strategy in Indonesian Senior High School. This research is a
qualitative research with qualitative descriptive type. In taking the sample in this
research using purposive sampling technique, where the sample was selected by
taking six students. In collecting research data, the researcher used interview as
an instrument. Then the results of the data were analyzed using reduction, display,
and drawing conclusions or verification. Based on the results of the research, it
was stated that the students had positive and negative about students „ Reading
Comprehension of the use questioning strategy in learning English method. The
positive respons of the students indicate that the use of questioning strategy in
learning English method is to be effective in learning English because with the
questioning method students can be more critical in understanding reading texts,
this the teacher only provides limits on the material that is assessed can train
concentration and thinking so that it is better and more efficient. Therefore, it is
highly recommended for teachers to be able to maximize the use of questioning
strategy in teaching reading to teach as interesting and creative as possible so that
students are more imrove students‟ reading skills.
A. CONCLUSION
Based on the findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher can conclude that there are positive and negative respons of the
students about the use Questioning Strategy in Students’ Reading Comprehension.
1. The positive perceptions of the students are that the use Questioning
Strategy in Students’ Reading Comprehension. Relate about the other
respons of the use of learning method , both the use questioning
strategy as learning method to read are considered capable of
motivating students, effective, and can attract students' attention to be
used in learning to read because provided pictures on the text, structure
text that makes it easy for students to read. The use of questions in the
form of essay and the are still many forms of questions’ text that can
improve students’ reading skills. In addition, the use questioning
strategy have advantages as learning method to read, which are more
effective and efficient in their use and students can learn to read as well
as with the ability to read students can read carefully on the text they
read, thus the quality f students’ reading comprehension wiil continue
to increase.
2. The Negative perceptions of the students of the two learning media, it
can be seen that there are still students who sometimes feel that
Questioning strategy are not optimal or still less effective because of
the lack of method for friends or teachers. Then questioning strategy
also have disadventeges and the oconstraint namely,
B. SUGGESTION
After closing the conclusions and conducting the research, the researcher
has several suggestions for English teachers, students, and the next researchers.
1. For English teachers
Suggestions for teachers, hopefully in future teachers can apply them well
in the future by questioning strategy in teaching English. And hopefully in the
future teachers can be more creative in choosing learning methods are also
expected that teachers must use the media to motivate students and be more
enthusiastic in participating in learning English
2. For students
Suggestions for students, in learnimg English especially in reading that
students can be more enthusiastic and more motivated to learn reading using the
descpritive text using questiniong strategy in learning reading.
3. For next Reseachers
Suggestions for future researchers to be more careful in choosing locations
and research subjects, this is because the data when researching is valid, and
preferably before researching, researchers can carry out pre-observations to ensure
the conditions of the place to be studied sometimes there are reading the text that
are not understood.
