The Correlation Between the Students’ Reading Speed and Reading Comprehension at the Eleventh Grade of SMAN 2 Bone

This thesis is about the correlation between the students' reading speed and
reading comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMAN 2 Bone, while the purpose
of this study is to find the correlation between reading speed and students' reading
comprehension. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Bone. This study uses a
correlation design using quantitative methods, the population of this study is the
eleventh grade class of SMAN 2 Bone which consists of 339 students and the
sample of this study is 15 students who were selected using cluster sampling
techniques and random sampling techniques. In collecting data, the researcher
used two tests, namely reading speed test and multiple choice test as the
instrument. The reading speed test was used to determine the students' reading
speed level and the multiple choice test was used to determine the students'
reading comprehension. After testing, the results of this study indicate the results
of hypothesis testing using Pearson product moment obtained a correlation
coefficient of 0.808 Where r- count is greater than r- table (0.808> 0.514) then Ho is
rejected statistically significant, from the results of the t test the significant value
