skill. Subject of the research are students of SMA NEGERI 26 BONE. In selecting
the subjects the researcher took it by using purposive sampling method. The
researcher chose class 11 IPS as the research subject and the researcher only took 10
students (5 male and 5 female) from the class.
This study used a descriptive qualitative design. The data analysis technique
consisted of observation and interview. Observation is focused on knowing and
seeing the speech habits of students when speaking or communication with the
opposite sex (gender). Thus, the interview was focused on finding the impact of
speech acts between men and women on speaking skill. The data analysis was
employed based on procedure of data analysis suggested by Miles and Huberman
that consisted of step reduction, display and verification data.
The result of this data illustrated that there was a significant impact of gender
speech act in speaking skill. As for the distribution of impact found on male and
female students such as differences in language acquisition, language pattern, gender
dominance, speech act that are often used and gender characters in language. This
shows that speaking skill cannot be separated from gender roles in life. Both of male
and female students each have a character that is inherent in them in speaking.
A. Conclusion
The result of observation speech act, the researcher concluded that the 10
students performed various speech acts both inside and outside the classroom. As
for the speech acts that student uses. For male students, the use of speech acts
tends to be evenly distributed, both from locutionary, illocutionary and
perlocutionary during conversations or speaking, and for female students the use
of speech acts is more dominant in illocutionary speech acts which consist of
subtitles; assertive, directive, declarative, expressive and commissive.
The result of impact of speaking, the researcher concluded that there
were 5 impacts in gender speech acts. They are the acquisition of language,
differences in language patterns, gender dominance, domination of speech acts
and gender speech that reflect character, nature and behavior. There were 2
teachers and 10 students who stated this. Researcher considered that speaking skill
also has their own impact when used on different gender. When male students talk
to the interlocutor, they will show characters in their gender such as; loud voice,
aggressive and the language pattern is not verbal. In contrast, female students
prioritize feelings in speaking. Female are very soft in using language when
speaking and the pattern of language is verbal or more polite than men. So when
male or female talk to each other, each will use the language that is inherent in
their gender.
