Teachers And Students’ Perception On Folklore In English Textbook At MtsN 3 Bone

The objective of this research To know the implementation of folklore in teaching
and learning process at MTSN 3 Bone and to know the factors that can motivate the
students in learning folklore at MTSN 3 Bone. This research was undertaken as
qualitative design with interview and documentation to know the students’ and
teachers’ perception. The subjects of this research were teacher and students. As the
result, the teacher perceived in selecting folklore, the teacher prefer folklore that
exists in students’ environment in order to they more understand and familiarize
about that. However, the teacher admitted that folklore is not suitable in all level of
students as the folklore is treated too difficult for early class. Then, the students
assumed the factor the factor that can motivate the students in learning folklore is
depend on the content of the folklore itself, if the plot is interesting, the students will
become enthusiasm. On the other hand, the students assumed that after learning
folklore, the found such new vocabulary that can enrich their vocabulary mastery.
Then, the teachers added that selecting the interesting one and make the students
curious about the story by giving the stimulus question.
A. Conclusion
1. Implementation of Folklore in Teaching and Learning Process at MtsN 3 Bone
As the teacher perception, in implementation of folklore as a medium in teaching
and learning process at MtsN 3 Bone, the teachers perceive that before giving the students
material, the teacher gives the students directions at first. Then in selecting folklore, the
teacher prefers folklore that exists in students’ environment in order to they more
understand and familiarize about that. However, the teacher admits that folklore is not
suitable in all level of students as the folklore is treated too difficult for early class.
2. The Factors that Can Motivate the Students in Learning Folklore at MTSN 3 Bone
As the teacher and students perception about the factor that can motivate the students in
learning folklore, the students reveal that the factor that can motivate the students in
learning folklore is depend on the content of the folklore itself, if the plot is interesting, the
students will become enthusiasm. On the other hand, the students assume that after learning
folklore, the found such new vocabulary that can enrich their vocabulary. Then, the
teachers add that the factor that can motivate the students in learning folklore is selecting
the interesting one and make the students curious about the story by giving the stimulus
question.

B. Suggestion
Based on the research result and conclusions in this result, the researcher provides the
following suggestions:
1. For teacher
It is strongly suggested to the teacher who teaches English to find the
interesting and familiar topic to makes students more spirit learning English.
Moreover, the teacher should motivate the students to learning English because it is
important thing as it is international language. The English teachers are suggested to
use folktales in teaching English because it can improve students’ motivation and
interest.
2. For students
The students are hoped to keep their enthusiasm when following teaching learning
process. The students also keep an assumption that English is easy and just keep trying,
and never give up.
3. For next researcher
As this research gave good results, it is expected that other researchers can do
better than this research and provide better result. a
