The Students‟ Ability to Write Diary in Learning Vocabulary At The Eight Grade of MTS Nurul Ulum As‟Adiyah Pammana.

This study aims to determine students‟ ability to write diary based on their
experiences, students‟ responses to writing diary in vocabulary learning. This type of
research is a descriptive qualitative case study at Mts Nurul Ulum As‟Adiyah
Pammana, the participants are a class of 10 students in class VIII A at Mts Nurul
Ulum As‟Adiyah Pammana. The results of data analysis showed that during the diary
vocabulary learning the students‟ were very enthusiastic, active and corious.
Vocabulary written in the diary based on the results of the writing test the researcher
found that students understood some of the vocabulary to write in the diary.
A. Conclusion
This study aims to determine the ability of MTS students‟ to write diary
based on personal experience. Based on the results of research that has been done by
researchers, both from the results of tests and interviews, it can be concluded that:
1. Based on the results obtained, the researcher saw that all students fullfiled the
six question on the observation checklist , especially learning vocabulary
using the diary writing method. In can be seen from the enthuasism of
students, paying attention to the teacher when delivering materiial, activity of
students in asking question, activity in answering question, conducting
discussion, and using dictonary.
2. Based on the results of the students' diary writing tests, it can be concluded
that there are two students' ability in writing diary, namely vacation to the
beach ad vacation to family home. This can be seen clearly from the result of
writing the diary of the ten students, each whom have written down different
experiences and here the researcher also saw that the students already know
some of the vocabulary in each of their diary that the students have written
down what vocabulary the students had know according to the word class
variations.
3. Based on the results of the interview diary writing method is very suitable to
be taught to Grade VIII students‟ because this method is very effective,
interesting, can make students‟ think more broadly and of course increase
students vocabulary. for students who are less interested in learning to write
the teacher can provide a good solution by offering something more unique,
motivating , providing understanding, memorizing vocabulary and understand
memorized vocabulary and the teacher must be more enjoy and enthusiasm in
offering more interesting methods in learning so that students can understand
easily and feel happy learning to write vocabulary in a diary.
B. Suggestion
Based on the findings and discussion of the research, the researchers put
forward the following suggestions:
1. For Teacher
For teacher, especially English teachers, it is hoped that they can
provide regular training to students‟ in writing, especially in writing diary.
This is because there are still students‟ whose ability to write stories is still
relatively low because it is rare or has never been done before. So that this is
very necessary in the future, so that students‟ are able to produce good
scientific writing and of course it is useful for many people.
2. For Students‟
The students‟ are advised to be more aware that writing activities,
especially writing in English, are very important. We can see firsthand how
people who have scientific writings in this era of globalization are very useful
and viewed, especially in written form in English.
