The Use of Repeated Reading as a Strategy to The Students Mastery in English Vocabulary at The Eleventh Grade of SMKN 2 Bone

This research discusses about learning strategy in form of repeated reading to the
students‟ vocabulary mastery at the Eleventh Grade of SMKN 2 Bone. This research
aims to find out The Use of Repeated Reading as a Strategy to The Students Mastery
in English Vocabulary. There are two variables in this research. The dependent
variable is The Students Mastery in English Vocabulary. The independent variable is
Repeated Reading Strategy. This research applied quantitative method which used
pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test. The researcher used
purposive sampling technique. The sample consist of 20 students from the XI Akl of
SMKN 2 Bone. The researcher gave pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data on the
students‟ pre-test and post-test were analyzed by using SPSS V25. The pre-
experimental group was given pre-test, treatment, and post-test by using repeated
reading strategy. The result of this research showed that repeated reading was able to
be applied as a strategy to the students‟ vocabulary mastery. It proved by the mean
score of post-test was significantly higher than pre-test (83,50 > 68,00). It also could
be seen from the result of t-test showed 0,000 which was < significant degree (0,05).
It could be defined that H 0 (null hypothesis) was rejected, and automatically H 1
(alternative hypothesis) was accepted. Therefore, it could be stated that repeated
reading was able to be applied as a strategy to the students‟ vocabulary mastery.
A. Conclusion
Based on the data analysis in the previous chapter, it concluded that repeated
reading strategy was able to be applied to the students‟ vocabulary mastery. This
research was implemented at the eleventh grade of SMKN 2 Bone. It began on 21 st
September 2022. This research was carried out about six meetings (Pre-test, treatment,
post-test). As the result, the students‟ score were going up significantly. It proved by
the students which gained the mean 68,00 in the pre-test and then their score
increased to the mean 83,50 in the post-test. Futhermore, the result of t-test showed
0,000 which was < significance degree (0,05). It indicated that H 1 was accepted and
H 0 was rejected. It could be understood that repeated reading strategy was able to be
applied to the students‟ vocabulary mastery.
B. Suggestion
Based on the research results and conclusion, the researcher would like to
give suggestion as follows:
1. For the teacher
English teachers must to manage the situation in the classroom creatively by
giving the students an interesting method.
2. For the student
Learning English is essential for life nowadays. The students should keep on
learning English especially in vocabulary as it is basic in learning English.
3. For the other researcher
Due to this research gave quite good result, it is expected that other next
researcher can do better to this research and provide the better result.
